Tokyo Classic Motor Show
Intriguing, looks like a fantstic show! I have two questions though: Firstly, what is an Excalibur??? Any secondly, did JDM c110's come with the option of twin SU's? I notice that the owner of the stock-ish deep blue c110 in question has added a rear fender 'Skyline' badge to the grille, so there could be other 'period' touches, including the carbs, to the car. What strikes me, however, is that the carbs are flat tops, and a factory air cleaner is in use - perhaps a set up from the jdm equivalent of the 260z (which came with flat-tops). But, if the owner was truly after improved performace, they would most likely have gone for hitachi round tops off an early s30, or something similar. What do you think, Miles? Tom

240K Handling
Hey Kent + Lach, I too was interested in 240k handling because as you both know in stock form...well the 'k handles like a pig... Terrible bias towards understeer and its only if youre giving the car a good kick in the guts - ie going in hot and stepping on the power EARLY that the tail swings out, albeit snappier than an catholic school headmaster. When i replace my tyres in the next month or so, ill grab a pic of the uneven wear on the fronts due to the nose pushing in. Ive had a chat to a few different people regarding rb weight, and most say the l-series blocks are boat anchors in comparison - Kent you may be pleasantly surprised. In any case, i would highly reccomend some negative camber at the front. Combined with your strut brace and (i assume) nolatane bushes it will be a winning package. If possible, a conversion to rack and pinion steering will sharpen up the whole package and give you a much more sporty feel. Regards, Tom

Electric Windows in 240k?
Hey Jim and all, Apologies for my delayed response, ive been holidaying in Melb for the past five days. In any case, thats some pretty comprehensive and compelling evidence, and to be honest, i dont have nearly as big guns to back my case up. It merely stems from vague, indirect conversations with others on forums and the like as to the availability of the c110 in 1972/73. Im glad youve been able to convincingly prove me wrong anyhow! - Thats a mighty fine publication you have in your posession, indeed is it still available? There is very little doubt in my mind that you are correct, however, it would be nice if someone could pop up and mention what the actual availability of the c110 was in late '72? How does this sound, though: As the debate has been waged for many years to determine the earliest AVAILABLE Z's, could the same scenario have beset the skyline - ie produced in late '69, not available till very early '70? Just a thought. Many regards, Tom

Electric Windows in 240k?
Indeed Jim is correct, the JDM c110 GTX model skylines came with electric windows from the factory. If you are familiar with Yahoo Auctions Japan, you may be able to source a set up from a seller there. Otherwise the only real option would be to order the cranks etc from nissan jp, unless the c210 items would do the trick? I would think it to be unlikely, however, as the c210 has differently shaped doors and glass. As a side note, Jim, i dont belive the c110 was available to the public in either Japan or export markets before 1973. Prove me wrong ! And one other thing. The blanked out panel on the centre console in the Oz spec 240k gl/gt's is obviously for the 'leccy windows, but howbout the round blanked out switch socket next to the hazard switch on the Oz 240k? Anyone knows what would go there in a JDM model?

I wish this was my skyline!!!
Hehe, very nice mikey - i think i have those pictures in my collection Just make sure, if you do decide to lower your car further, to get some adjustable camber plates, or some similar device, in order to counter-act the excessive negative camber that will result from lowering the rear end! Out of interest, what profile tires are you going for at the front? Tom p.s - hows this for perfection?

Pad Size on C110
I went great Got wind of a guy in queensland who rallies a 240k - l28+triples i thunk. Anywho, he reccomended lucas pads - rekoned they were good for 700deg C plus - and this is for a pad that retails at around $30 a set! Since installing them (around 6 months ago now!), ive understood what he was talking about - great bite and very little fade! The guy at the store i bought them from, once it was established i was going to buy them, quietly told me they were indeed better than pads more than thrice the price! Have you warn in your ultimates yet?

Help! Late/Early model 240K front bumper differences??
How the hell did i miss this whole thread? Anyway, looks like youve solved your own problems Lach. Out of interest, where did you manage to find the bumper? There was a front bumper on ebay not so long ago. I bidded on it, however, the seller ended the auction prematurely. Within a week the same seller had a brand new rear bumper advertised and i managed to grab that with no dramas...?

Well, its worth keeping nonetheless isnt it, and maybe, just maybe one day finding the time to work on it? Hey craig, why dont you bring your csp311 silvia along to one of the ozdat meets - whats happening on that front? And the Z front for that matter?

Northbridge tunnel cameras
Aha, I was wondering about this for some time. I too have had the urge to let the 'k bellow in the tunnel - fantastic, if a little intimidating for other motorists. Ive memorised that spot though, craig, just before the entrance to the southbound side of the tunnel...hmmm...bellowing, that reminds me. I noticed something funny the other day. While in one of the city's numerous high-rise car parks, much to my dismay there were no spaces left on the lower levels. I kept climbing and climbing, expecting to grab a space on the next level, to no avail. As i ascended, i became more and more frustrated, giving the car a bit more as i completed one level after the other. Being the smooth, reverberation friendly construction that these car parks are, all it took was a little prod of the throttle and car alarms everywhere would respond in harsh, shrill tones! By the time i had reached the top, i had created a symphony of noise behind me! Its happend many times before, giving the car a bit while passing parked cars. Once a couple had just disembarked from their holden commode, my passing immediately activating its alarm. The look on their faces....

240K/240Z Extractors
Yeah there are a number of different options here, converting to R&P steering would be ideal. In any case i agree, the steering box steering is most definitely the weakest aspect of the 240k. Craig, i bought a set of h&m headers to fit a 240z for around $300, from perth exhaust centre. They were just exchanged item for item in the end, no extra cost. Tom

240K/240Z Extractors
JEEEZUZ!!! Lachlan!!! I should have posted it here, but i found out the hard way too. I dont think i was a member of this forum when it happened, as this was almost 17 months ago! What was infuriating, was that a supposed 'expert' on the matter reccomended me to buy a set of 240z extractors claiming: "there's absoloutely no difference, dont worry." Anyway, after ripping the old exhaust system off from the headers down and 'placing' the 240z headers in position i realised. Ended up exchanging them for a genuine 240k set which fit no worries. According to Jim theyre quite rare, so you may be looking at a custom made setup Fantastic and also fantastically expensive. Is it not possible to return yours? Good luck, i hope to hear how the saga goes. Tom
