  1. i would find out if you have dished or flat top pistons in the N42 block (my guess would be dished... rather silly for a "high-compression" combo). if I were you i would invest in some flat top pistons and an N42 head (good for 10:1) to get some flow, then worry about carburetion. stock SUs would work fine. oh wait, that IS what i did.... plus a ~.500 lift ~.300 dur cam...
  2. wow, you've got your work cut out for you. so the front carb isn't sucking ANY air? that can't be good... bent valves, maybe?
  3. welcome back! if you need any help i'm local in Santee (although short on time )
  4. correct. actually, now that i think about it, the vent hose for the fuel tank (the one that's attached to the valve on the inner fender) is vented into the air
  5. i put nipples in the backs for all except large one from the valve cover. i put a baby filter on the valve cover
  6. man, that sucks! can you take any action towards the PO?
  7. no prob! good luck with the project
  8. good thread - http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118512
  9. are you running MS or any other non-stock EMS? check over at hybridz for folks that have swapped different injectors from different marques.
  10. gooot it, .. anyway, GL with the sale!
  11. JB weld? no personal experience, and i await someone to say "NO!", but it worked on my BMW's oil pan when the PO hit a rock
  12. might want to post in the classifieds. how long have you been a member here? it says Dec 2007; do you have another account?
  13. i'm pretty sure there was another post somewhere regarding this piece. no idea on how to find it, though
  14. cali's a lot more stricter than that^ not sure about oregon. anyway, suxx to hear about that. do you know anyone who can store it for you for the time being?
  15. it's a stock 3.36 R180. i will keep you guys updated for sure
  16. ZWhizz said that someone may have removed the baffles from the diff cover. I picked up another diff (Thanks Ben!) and plan on installing it maybe this weekend. that will give me a chance to disassemble the old one and see what's going on. updates to follow!
  17. shoot me a PM and you can look at my hood
  18. on my way to work on xmas eve the car started making a whining noise right in the drivetrain. after first thinking it was a bearing in the tranny, I discovered oil on the exhaust by the diff and a soggy pumpkin. right after work i limped her over to ZWhizz to have the diff gasket changed (since that's what i thought it was). anyway, long story short, they found that it WASN'T the gasket, but the diff was shooting oil out of the breather. I searched the archives and found that people were experiencing similar symptoms with a clogged breather. any other ideas?
  19. think you read the vin wrong. GS30110985? all you'll be able to tell is the year and engine size my bad; GS31 is jdm 2+2. probably an L20 stock
  20. ^must add to mike's post in regards to the crankshaft 'stroker' motor; it requires different pistons and rods to get to 3.1L. you would need 240SX (KA24) pistons milled down, as well as 240Z connecting rods.
  21. i prefer N42 for NA. gonna weld one up for more CR.
  22. which directions did you use?
  23. stephen, from what i gather he is trying to go the other way.... i.e. Z motor into a max. however, the advice still applies; different oil pans and pick up tubes. oh and dipshi..... i mean dipsticks
  24. i'm running bridgestone g009 15x7. don't know the specs, but i <3 em
  25. looks to be pretty solid, but the price seems a bit high for something that will ultimately have to be custom modified on a per-car basis. good idea though. i plan on building somethng like that for my car when i get my welder up and running
