  1. Wow, your Z has the lowest VIN we've seen so far that is registered as a '71!
  2. @zeeboost Yes it was Andy's car - what a small world it is! Andy is really a great guy and I've enjoyed working with him on the purchase of the 240Z. Just curious, I see that you are in Austin, TX. how do you know Andy in West Virginia?
  3. Hi Mark, So your Series I #8750 would have been built in 8/70, correct? Which was still technically a 1970 model car just like mine. As the other members previously mentioned in this thread, the 1971 registration had more to do with the date of delivery and not the build date.
  4. Thanks so much for the great information guys, I really appreciate it!
  5. I just bought my first Series I from out-of-state (West Virginia) that is HLS30-07184 and is titled as a 1971. The build date is 07/70, making it a 1970 model. The car has not yet arrived to my home here in Colorado yet and I'm concerned about this issue. I don't know if it's a clerical error that happened many years ago and it just carried on for years. I asked the previous owner to take pictures of the VIN locations on the firewall, the data plates and the dash and they all checked out and were authentic with no signs of tampering in any way. I also had the previous owner take a picture of the original matching-numbers engine's serial number and it matched what was on the engine bay data plate. Has anyone else had this happen to them or know of anyone that went through this before?
  6. I had heard that some of the VZ cars had sold at private auctions for $100K - that's great, @kats is awesome!
  7. Well, the car is up to $93K with 4 days left in the auction.....getting closer to breaking the $100K barrier!
  8. lonetreesteve posted a post in a topic in Internet Finds
The red one in Raleigh, NC is a steal for only $1K, especially if it's possible to get a title for it.
  9. The car has been bid up to $75K already and there are 6 more days left in the auction!
  10. I just hope that whoever purchased the car will restore it back to its original glory and with an early L24 engine and gearbox if possible.
  11. Here's the link to this beauty: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-39/
  12. Some outstanding photos and information! Thanks to all that contributed. Just curious, is the picture below with the model on the 240Z at the Boston Car Show the same model during that famous incident that put a large dent on the top of the fender? She doesn't look like she weighs very much, but we all know how soft the fenders are on the 240Zs!
  13. Has a 2/70 build date with what looks to be an old Corvette engine. Someone save this early Z! https://knoxville.craigslist.org/pts/d/hendersonville-240z-datsun-1971/6899775921.html
  14. Hi Brad, Here's one located in the L.A. area: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/pts/d/gardena-datsun-240z-front-radiator-core/6887611293.html
  15. Thanks, rturbo 930! Steve
  16. @DatsunZGuy Thanks for posting the link. I don't have Facebook, but it's great to still be able to look at the pictures and read about the shop, etc. Do you know if they also have an Instagram account?
  17. A thread on this car was already started under 'Internet Finds" back on May 9th, but no one mentioned the final auction hammer price (including myself). I agree with you, a very fine example and and presented very well. The seller was also very forthcoming when answering questions. 240Zs are finally getting the respect they deserve and the auction prices are reflecting that.
  18. @siteunseen, Well, I was $5k shy of the winning bid. I hope I can find another '69 production car someday that fits my budget.
  19. The car ended up selling for $22k!
  20. Ha! I think you're right! Check out the picture below,. In the far left hand corner, is that Jethro with a yellow vest and a hat on doing something near the pine tree?
  21. 7 hours ago, psdenno said: It's a slow day here, so how about we all join in for a second verse? Altos on the right, sopranos on the left. Well the first thing you know Jed's no longer a millionaire, Kinfolk said Jed burn that funky Zed and move away from here Said Californy is the place you ought to be So they loaded up the truck and moved to the Land of the Rust Free.. Zeds, that is. everywhere, no rust, no rot. Californy. Just in case anyone is interested in Jed's Zed here's the link: https://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/d/dayton-1972-datsun-240z/6886260252.html Y'all come back now, yaw hear?
  22. Here's an ugly one in someone's backyard that's mixed right in with the kids' play toys. Is that Jed Clampett and his dog Duke in the background?
  23. Yesterday I placed my final bid of $17K for this car. Even though I have always wanted a 1969 production year 240Z, I just can't justify spending any more than that. When you consider that it no longer has its original numbers-matching engine and it also no longer has its original hood, rear hatch clear glass and some other items. If the car weren't missing all of these items, I would definitely go higher since it looks to be such a solid car. Also if you consider the restoration costs on top of all this, it just doesn't make sense for me at this time, especially since I already have two '71 240Z projects waiting in the wings.
  24. For anyone looking for an inexpensive 240Z project, here's a '71 in the Utah Desert near St. George: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forum/79-internet-finds/?do=add
