  1. Where are you located?

I've ordered from MSA a number of times (including purchasing a front & rear spoiler). They have been very helpful. Pity they aren't open on Thanksgiving when I called in to have a look when I was in the neighbourhood.....
  3. The Festiva was metallic green The Valiant was yellow The 260Z 2+2 was maroon
  4. Yeah, Sleek (the elite) upgraded the Festiva to a 260Z 2+2 in the insurance scam episode (the same one where they trashed Pauly's Valiant & then rebuilt it - to look identical as it was originally)......

pfffft, I'm much more accurate in real life..... ROFL
  6. about:blank Then I open a dozen windows & go to far too many sites.....

It makes you wonder doesn't it? If true, it would be a very significant event. If not - WTF is going on?
  8. What is the condition of your door - can you post images?
  9. That's a worry..... Unfortunately, I don't have any spares (we stripped the skin & binned one & then discovered that new ones & skins are NLA.....) Doors from an EARLY 260Z will work too, as they have the 240Z- style latches. I found an early 260Z coupe @ U-Pull-It a few years back & raped the doors, guards & various other parts from it. Check out their new yard near the RAAF base & perhaps get in contact with Adelaide Z cars @ Hackham too.
  10. Where is he? We'll do a raid....
  11. Bah ha ha ha ha ROFL A DOZEN sets? You have to be joking. I bet that I couldn't find a dozen good lights that aren't in use in the whole country! Seriously, I'm thankful that we had good ones on the cars we own, 'cause you have 2 chances of getting a good 2nd-hand pair. Remember there were only ~2500 240Z's sold in Aus.
  12. The Aussie cars have the 'euro' lights.
  13. You can, but the design of the engine is what determined the appropriate CR's that the factory used. I have done just that - stock L28E, custom exhaust, FMIC, aftermarket ECU, limited to 6-7psi. But if you get the factory L28ET, with it's lower CR & better head design. You will be able to screw in around 1-bar with a decent management system & produce much more power.
  14. The particular FJ20ET in that auction is from an early DR30 RS Turbo Skyline (like mine!). It is the non-intercooled version (ie pre 1984). The engine was also used in the S12 Silvia in atmo & turbo form (the inlet manifold had shorter runners in the S12). It was first used in the S11 Silvia as a 2.4L atmo, twin-carb'd rally engine (the 240RS). The FJ24 stroker kits are almost non-existant. I am currently rebuilding my FJ20, due to a head gasket failure (well, a fitting failure by the factory). It's done about 120,000km and everything is in A1 condition. They are a very rev-happy engine with plenty of power in stock form. Mine regularly saw 7000+rpm - I just have to remember that there's no factory limiter & the redline is 7500.... (I'm usually pretty conservative in my 'revving' of engines - I keep my L28ET under 5500, but the FJ just produces more grunt the higher you go!) My dad has an atmo one in his 510, and that is very nice too (funnily enough, his headgasket failed in the same way mine has....)

Hi George, With a VIN of 101,000+ and the picture of your car as your avatar, there is no way that your car is a '72. If your car has no hatch vents, no hand throttle, proper reclining mechanisms on the seats & bumper-mounted indicators, it's a '73.
  16. briefly (it's 2am....) I'll dig up the Formula Pac. info & pass it on. I'll also try & get a copy of the 'Group G' stuff (that's been pending for a while, but I'm lazy) I expect you are right about the 432, as the car in the article is at standard height (not higher) & there is no mention of the perspex windows or other 'SB' specific features. Still - lucky bastard.... I have made a point of getting homologation papers for every car I own. After all, they only cost $70 from my state FIA-sanctioned motorsport body (CAMS). I drool at the brakes & suspension parts that were used on some of the cars - friggin huge!
  17. Thanks for correcting my size-mismatch Alan! You are lucky to have an 'original' Sport Option Catalogue, I have a copy of a copy of a copy! Likewise with the Datsun Cherry, B210 & Formula Pacific catalogues. For anyone who wants more info on some of these performance parts - get a copy of the FIA Homologation papers for the HS30 - it has quite a lot of NLA good stuff in it! I do know someone who has an original 'Group G' catalogue for the twin-cam L16 & L20B's (similar to the Formula Pac. but only engine parts). I have a 'Motor' Magazine from 1974 which has an article about an Australian ex-pat who lives in Japan and his heavily modified Z432-R (big cams, racing valves & springs, triple 44's, twice-pipes etc). It tended to overheat in traffic....:classic: But was great fun at 'illegal speeds'.
  18. Hi Z_boi, If you have next-to-no power at any rpm's then you have issues. Task #1 get a manual, & get familliar with the diagnostic proceedures for both the engine & EFI system. Based on that you will find out that for something like lack of power the following could be the cause (taken from Engine-Fuel section of the L24E FSM): Improper ignition system Malfunctioning throttle valve Malfunctioning air flow meter Clogged air cleaner filter (now _that's_ easy to check) Improper fuel line Improper fuel pressure Problems in the following circuits: * Ignition coil trigger input circuit * Control unit power input circuit * Injection circuit * Air flow meter potentiometer * Throttle valve switch, idle contact & full throttle contact * Air temperature sensor * Water temperature sensor * Air regulator & fuel pump circuit I know that's pretty much everything, but fixing these problems is a process of elimination. The L-jet system is relatively simple & a proper diagnostic process _will_ solve the problem. Keep us posted & get ready to enjoy heaps more power from your car!
  19. Triple Mikuni's were a Motorsports/option part. So yes, you could buy them from a dealer, but they weren't fitted to the L20 or L24 engines from the factory. I still think Nissan Motorsports USA offers the 44PHH & 50PHH Mikuni kits. However the S20 2.0L only came with Triple 44PHH's.... (fitted to Z432 & Z432-R Japanese Fairladys only)

The fog lights are NLA - I tried to buy some a few years back. They are listed in the standard HS30 parts fiche/book, as is the S20 oil cooler (but no other S20 parts...) Steve, the distributor setup is custom. Series 2 910 (bluebird) Bosch housing, Holden greasy-6 button & cap, fabricated Hall-Effect sensor mounting & chopper-wheel installation. Of course, it is locked up too. This is all a proven Haltech E6A setup that had done over 120,000km (including use on the original 2.4L turbo). The gearbox is attached to an RB25DE - for my dad's 240Z (the white one in the background). I do have an FJ box though - in my DR30 of course! My dad has one too - along with the FJ20E in his 1600! You may notice that the intercooler plumbing looks very similar in the old & new setup shots - conveniently, very little modification was required to make it suit completely different intake & exhaust systems.... My indicator seals were buggered too - even with 2x '73 240Z's we didn't have a 'good' pair to use :disappoin The indicator lenses & seals were not offered as spares - only the whole assembly. When I priced one in 1996 it was over $300AUD, they are NLA now.
  21. Piece of cake, if it's clean, legal & your record is good for the last few years. There are already plenty of RB Zeds in the country. My car is currently on laid-up insurance with Shannons as L28ET, fully restored (in-progress), agreed value $15k. It will be $30k when finished, and they have no problem with that.
  22. Gee, What are the 2 sets of Chassis/Engine numbers? My car is was ADR'd in Aug '73, orange, auto. HS30-103353 L24 179014 It's in MPH (as were all aussie 240Z's) but none of the 610's were MPH (which were relaesed in '72 from memory). Some of the 510's had dual markings on the speedos (factory?).

The problem with Compomotive ML's & the Performance Superlites is that they only go up to 15" dia. (which is fine for a Z). But if you want larger, Panasports are avavilable in 16" as are the RS-F8's.
  24. Ben replied to bigd652's topic in Wheels & Brakes
Hi Leeroy, There are no Panasport dealers in Australia, but you can still buy them from MSA - freight will be a bit of a killer.... Also, if you want RS-Watanabe F8's (the original 8-spoke racing rim) they will set you back around $600AUD each + $600AUD for freight from Japan. Do a search on 'Watanabe' to get info from older threads on the topic. The closest local equivalent is the Performance Superlite - but they are 10 spoke (I have a set of 15x7's Superlites on my car).

Hi Steve - yes my car is a late '73; VIN HS30-103353. ADR date 08/73. It had the indicators above the bumpers, but I intend to use orange globes in the lower assembly & use parkers internal to the H4's that I have. The reason for this is two-fold (it was originally only 1). 1) One of my lenses is cracked & they are NLA 2) My US-spec bumper doesn't have holes in the top for the mounting of any lights (just holes on the bottom for the fog lamps. You can see the E2 sticker on the strut tower in http://www.zclub.net/postnuke/modules.php?set_albumName=uploaded&id=afl&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php. Photo's 4-8 are of my car.
