Thanks ! Although I'm not quite sure about the effectiveness of those speakers under the seats!
  4. Yessum. I think we should all shut up until Mike says something
  5. Yeah, can't complain about that one ! Yours (is that the one which had to be sold?) looks absolutely breathtaking
  6. Bloody hell you didn't have to write a thesis... It's all well and good, but I strongly suggest not introducing the whole point scheme thing. It's a fancy idea, but too complicated and from my experience (watches the old folk snort at the 17 year old) the simpler things are the better they work. This place is better in every sense than zcar.com, but as mr. type-happy has said, this place doesn't have as much exposure. However, Mike may not want a monster of a site with a hundred new posts a day. Sometimes a smaller community is better than a huge one. It gets more... personal...
  7. "whether or not he has the retracts for the seat belts" They dont retract. "whether his fuel vapor recovery tank is metal or plastic" Where's that? And more importantly, WHAT is that??? I have the hand throttle and choke, although they aren't connected atm... "The tool storage compartments in the Series I were not compartments in the true sense of the word. They were Plastic Covers that hinged from a floor bracket to the vertical steel that comprises the rear axle "step". The tools, handle, rod and the wrench were put in a bag and the jack was mounted below. The cover just hinged up and hid it from view. Think of the tray table in an airplane and you get the general idea. The covers had 3 sides as well as the face of the cover. The fourth side was where the hinge went. One side was bigger than the other, but don't recall which. When they did away with the Series I Tool Storage, what they did was cut two holes on the floor of the rear deck, closest to the seats, and put a pair of hinged covers with a latch that you turned to open it. The space directly behind the seats was no longer used for tool storage at all, the tool storage was now hidden underneath the floor carpeting on the rear deck." My storage bins are just behind the seats, in the parcel shelf.... I'm pretty sure now that my car is a series 2 ...
  8. Those figures are actually pretty correct IIRC The trouble is that about when the 260Z came out they changed the way they measured BHP from gross to nett SAE ratings.. But yeah the 240Z was the fastest until the 280ZX turbo - which is ugly so whaddayagunnado? The 280Z gained about 500lbs from the 240Z. So all in all, the 240Z is the fastest of the non-ugly cars Which is why I have one
  9. I'm one of those "Holy Mackerel - $20?!?!" kinda guys Quite frankly $20 US to me is a bloody fortune - I havent spent that much on anything since I bought my Z !! I like to think my contribution to the site is being a mod (since I can't pay the $5 for shipping of that microfiche CD hehe)
  10. My tool box things are in the parcel shelf thing behind the seats.. I tried to look for some dates but couldn't find any! Series 2 only started *production* in 1971? Or were they built in 1970 but just sold as 1971 models ???
  11. My car has no grille things under the back window, but it is registered as a 1970 car. I'll go look at the dates printed on the car (if I can find them)... I'm getting confused
  12. Ah ok thanks.
  13. Y'all might want to have a geez at www.cafepress.com if you're into the T-shirt idea.
  14. Does anybody know the ratio of lbs to kgs?

It just *looks* like it has been stuck on incorrectly. Obviously though just something to do with the perspective/lossy compression.
  16. I'm pretty certain it'd be the 1031st RHD car... Randy said HLS30 019889 was the last of the series 1 cars, and mine is a series 2 and a lesser number....

Uhhhhh how nice is it? man, that's exactly the wheels I wanna get one day... Is it just me, or is your left side DATSUN badge on a bit of an angle? How much did your wheel & tyre setup cost all together?
  18. Ah yes, very well. So mine's the 1031st RHD car... correct?
  19. Mmm... true, but why is my VIN HS3001031 ? Not HLS... HS ... whats up? (it's a series 2 240z btw)

I'd love to see some pics!!!
  21. She's beautiful! But.... I wouldn't have that big ducktail on it... But she's hot nonetheless!

Woah thanks a bunch ! Those pictures are great, although I dont think I will be positioning the speakers on the doors like that... I've looked and there are strange wooden boards covering up the areas in front of the doors on the inside - could this have been where the speakers once were?
  23. Woah hey woah its like my car all over again ! She looks pristine, absolutely marvellous. I wont tell you what I think it would be worth, as I live in Australia and the prices for Z cars are quite different.
  24. Oooo Shpiffy ! Where can I find those "sport z mag instuctions" ??? I really need to restore my steering wheel...
  25. Aight, I know it's not a series 1 but Royce said there were 2 and 3 also...
