  1. Replaced all rubber grommets on the sway bar system and was not able to reach specified Torque on the grommet connection rod. There are 4 grommets on each side. They became flat like a pancake. What am I doing wrong. Thank
  2. I wasn't not satisfied with how this linkage connection went today. Those are new rubber grommets 4 of them per side They Compressed like a pancake before I even got to the specified torque setting. Grommets came from Z car depot. What's wrong with my picture? Thanks
  3. I like your comment. “It’s part of the game” I bought the car from my neighbor around the corner less than a mile away drove it around the block and then home then started taking things apart. So really I have no idea if it’s a good functional distributor or not.🙂
  4. I clamped my distributor in the vice this morning tried to get play side to side couldn't feel any movement it goes up and down slightly but that's probably normal. Anyway, I think I like the idea of a new distributor 54 years old there's no way around that
  5. I can inspect it in the morning
  6. Anyway, lots of good information not sure I have a final simple answer on which system to go with at the moment. The car is being restored pretty much bone stock except for larger intake and exhaust valves from a 280Z in the cylinder head. So. race, fancy, adjustable is probably not something that would be much of a value to me as I'm looking for a simple plug and play conversion. Much like the fireball unit I put in my 1956 GMC truck 30 plus years ago. My neighbor across the street recommended Pertronix 91761 igniter II Hitachi. Any thoughts on going that direction? Thanks guys
  7. Something that is functional easy to install and gives me zero trouble for the next 20 years. I’m not too concerned about looking fancy or. correct. I just want something that’s trouble free once I’ve gone through the steps to install. It. Don’t wanna have to go backwards and fuss with it later. I’m out working on the car now. I’ll have more time to research when I get back in my office this evening. Thanks to all the input I’ve received.
  8. I'm not planning on putting the original distributor points and condenser system back on my 71 240Z. A friend of mine is telling me to use a 123 ignition and an MSD6AL. Good or? Years ago I installed electronic fireball ignition system on an old GMC truck that I still have. I've never once had a problem with that upgrade. I'd like to do the same thing with the Z. Anyone have experience and advice to point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for the group's help. Restoration update as of 12-16-25.
  9. I ended up taking it to a guy that did the vapor blasting on my valve cover $75 Seemed like a nice guy but the product didn't turn out that amazing. So it's been glued and screwed to the cylinder head now and I'm wondering if anybody knows a compound that I can rub on the aluminum to spruce it up a bit thanks in advance for any tips
  10. This is the other name and email used during the email communications with Sully. Phaedra Rosengarth armychick44@hotmail.com He sent several pictures of the new tank and a few pictures of a partially restored tank that he allegedly was working on.

  15. He gave me 3 options. I chose Zell because it was through Bank America and I do my banking with Bank America. Apparently, you can't get any money back if you use Zell. "Every day's a school day " I've never been scammed this is the first time for me. I tell my kids if it sounds too good to be true it's Probably not true. I guess I should have listened to my own advice. Oh, and Full disclosure I also ordered a sending unit in the isolation pads for a grand total of $460. wwb5325 told me that Sully was a standup guy and a dealer.
  16. OK so my girlfriend who has a New Zealand accent can get 50%. :) On another note, it's starting to look like there's a scammer in the community. bww 5325 who's only posted twice and joined November 15th Told me about Suly38B@gmail.com who claimed to have a gas tank and long story shorter I sent him $300 December 1st and he's gone radio silent on me.
  17. Obviously, I’ll need to enunciate my words more succinctly. Speech to text (STT) works well 95% of the time. Siri’s translation skills still need monitoring.
  18. Appreciate your response. Thanks for checking into that.
  19. Good morning, I didn't realize that Junkyard Jenny had parts for sale. 7 pages from what I can tell. I purchased them late last night not sure the condition, the photos look good. I'll still purchase your plated version if that's an option. I'll go down to my local dealer ship this week with some part members for cross referencing to see how helpful they can be.
  20. OK, I'll bite. What does "salute you're typo" mean?

  24. Good point I didn't realize my profile was lacking. Anyway, I'll do that now San Jose California
