Good question. I 've used it several times over the past decades and used it again on my 79 last year but I doubt that I'll be around in 20 years to confirm.

		79 280z Brake Problem

Yarb and Patcon, Both mentioned the "reaction disk" and that I needed to be carefull how I delt with it. It's been many years since I replaced a brake booster on a Z car and I don't remember having to deall with the "reaction disk". I searched my FSM and can't find any mention of a reaction disk. I haven't found it listed on any of the drawings either. Please tell me more about it. Also, where can I find a rebuilder for my booster? I'm in SC.

Gas Tank removal problem on my 72 (12/71) Z car

3M Makes a really good advesive remover in an aerosal can. Not expensive. Works fast and might help to keep the rubber hose in tact. Also Goo Gone works well. Slow and steady wines the race.

		79 280z Brake Problem

My brake pedal felt lower and spoongy than normal when driving. Checked master cylinder reservoir and found it to be down in brake fluid about half way. I refilled it and checked all 4 wheel cylinders and brake lines under the car and all were dry. Test drove car again and pedal was still lower and spoongy. Is it possible that master cylinder is leaking back into the vac. booster? Or is my booster going bad? Or could both be happening. Vac. boosters are hard to come by for my 79zx. Any thoughts?

New WAI Starter Motor From Rock Auto

Discussions about what starter is better than others and how rebuilt starter's quality can be hit or miss have popped up from time to time. The starter on my 79 zx was getting slower and without even checking it with my multimeter I knew it was time to install a new one. I opted for the WAI new starter from Rock Auto. ($150.00 ) It arrived well packaged, including bench test results and really looked like a quality made part. I installed it yesterday and I'm really happy with it. It sounds great and really spins the engine over much faster that my old one did in years. I hope it will last!

		79 280zx Fuel Damper

Strange Fuel Pressure I finished replacing my fuel pump today along with all the rubber fuel lines at the pump except the one that goes to the tank. In addition I replaced the fuel filter and all the rubber fuel lines going in and out of the filter. Started it up and still have low fuel pressure. My gauge reads about 26 lbs and doesen't move with higher rpms. However, when I disconnect the vac. hose to the regulator I get about 38 lbs at adle with no real change at higher rpms. I replaced that regulator along with a bunch of vac. hose about two years ago (2000 miles) because the old regulator was really rusted and the smaller vac. lines were in rough shape. Do I have a bad regulator? Any ideas?

		79 280zx Fuel Damper

I'm replacing the pump because of low fuel pressure. Looked like nothing back there had been touched since new. So that was the only problem. I alway suffer with the "while I'm at it" thing when I work on my cars.

		Putting out the feelers

The front end look great! It could easily be changed by the new owner. I suspect if he couldn't figure that out he probably would not be interested in buying a really nice z car.

		79 280zx Fuel Damper

I removed my fuel pump today and cleaned up all the mounting hardware in order to replace it along with with some new fuel hose. I've done this a few times on other z cars over the past decades. However, I've never replaced the fuel damper. I have removed dampers on at least two cars in the past with no ill effect. Can a fuel damper go bad? I suspect a damper doesn't have moving parts and it's there to prevent pulsations in the fuel delivery. My damper looks bad on the outside but it's canister is in solid condition. I doubt I could find a new OEM one if I wanted one. What could go bad with an OEM damper?
