fiberglass alternative?
Check out Summit magazine. They already make those types of shifters. You just might have to have it "fitted" to the tranny and have the center console fabricated a bit. No biggy really. Vicky

Out of the Garage today
Now why can't this Z go to the ZFest in Orlando this month? Looks nice. Are the new rims for this car?

Got my custom exhaust system!
Congrats Jared! Sounds like you're comming right along with your Z. The inline 6 is a beefy little engine and there is no way it would sound ricey......unless you tried really, really hard to make it ricey with a so called garbage can size tip that the real ricers use to make their cars go faster (in their minds) Vicky

fiberglass alternative?
My husband had the molds made from a 78 280Z that I owned. One mold for the top, one mold for the underside of the hood. Metal was put in between the two parts for strength where the hood hinges attach in the corners. After the two parts where fused (for lack of a better word) together, many and I mean many hours of work was done on the hood to make it straight and smooth. If you didn't know it, you'd think the hood was metal. All this work was done so the car would have a cowl induction type hood............on an EFI car :stupid: Vicky

fiberglass alternative?
Hi Brian The custom hood on the red Z in my avatar is fiberglass with steel reinforced (sp?) rods along the inner sides (hood hinge area) for strength. The hood is actually two parts. My husband claims that it is heavier than a stock hood. Fiberglass (fenders) is/are a pain to repair, ask any Corvette owner. Vicky

My new babies arrived
Is he in Florida? The rims are very nice. Vicky

New convertible
Is the Z a rag-top or did it come with a removeable hard-top? (I'm guessing since it's missing, it's a hard-top). There is a member on this site, 2-4-T-Z-Man, who also has a beautiful convertable Z. Maybe you could pm him with any info you are requesting. Vicky

restoration
Along with all the previous information, one of the most important is to increase the checking account balance, as a full, thorough, correct and complete resto on an early Z car is not cheap. Take your time and do it right the first time. If it's the car in your avatar, it looks like you're starting out with a nice vehicle, which we all know will make the resto job more pleasurable. FWIW Vicky

Ok, here is the poll!
I can not stress how important it is to go to the owners meeting or even have a show rep come look at your car for a ZCCA show. When in doubt, have the car checked out! FWIW Vicky

What about "Team 16". Three young drivers, all age 16 driving in The Rolex 24 hous at Daytona. Pretty talented kids I think. Vicky

35th Anniversary edition Nissan 350Z
I like that yellow...................on a real Z. Not some swollen, bloated, smog control excuse for making money off the legendary Z name. Oh well, to each his own I guess. Vicky

Coil Shock
The MSD 6AL ignition is installed, the car runs like a champ and all necessary grounds are connected. When the car is running and you touch the coil you get shocked. The wire from the distributor to the coil is connected tight. The coil is a Crane Fireball PS-40. Could the coil be going bad? Don't know if it's always been this way because I've never touched the coil when the car was running. Any ideas? Vicky

Just recieved my new muffler, and its a big kahuna!
Glasspacks like the old Thrush or Cherry Bomb mufflers? The sound the old 70's glasspacks made when you let off the gas was awful, IMO. I hated it. Blew throught the Thrushys in less than a year, but they were wicked cheapos back then. A car that blows alot of carbon will chew through those in months. Tune your Z well. Vicky

Z & Frontier
Are those mirrors aftermarket? I thought the early Z only came with a drivers side mirror. My 72 only has a flat chrome drivers mirror. Your Z is fantastic! What a find! Oh, and nice truck too.

New Monthly Poll
Is this the poll? Well I'd have to say to the die hard purtist, yes it hurts the authenticity but to the desperate restorer with no other choice then No. To someone who's not a ZCCA fanatic, then you do what you have to do to make the car as correctest (thanks Chris) as possible. JMO Vicky

Source for 16/17/18 inch billet wheels 4 Z
I'd rather have Foose wheels, you know the guy who does "Overhaulin'". Anybody know if Foose will make rims for our cars? Just a thought. Vicky

Bought another Z
Wow that is a nice straight Z. Looks like you did get a good deal. What's the engine bay area look like? The car looks like someone really took care of her. To bad it's not a 77 or 78 because I have the rubber for the bumpers in primo condition. Congrats on your new purchase :classic: Vicky

Alternative Wheel Center Caps
I think the "Z" design is classic. Why don't you see if they can make a flat plate with just the Z. I know what you mean by the center cap sticking out. I really don't care for that either but a flat Z whould look sharp. JMO Vicky
