is this gong to be a race car or a road car? In NZ the exhaust has to stick out so far from the bodywork, I can't recall exactly how much, but we probably wouldn't be allowed to have it like yours is there.

naps-z ?????
They're more than likely off a 280ZX NAPS stands for Nissan AntiPollution System. Or something along those lines at least, my brother's '79 280ZX used to have them (them as in the badges) as did an '81 280ZX that was at the wreckers.

what about the new z's?
Man, I can't tell you how much I hate Evo's    STI's or plain Impreza's look a little nicer but they're still as common as dog s$%t, a stock Evo isn't that fantastic a car either you have to put a bit more money into 'em to make them "blow the doors off" anything especially if there's more than 1 person in the 4cyl POS. I'd take an S13 or S15 Silvia if I wanted a 4 cylinder. I'd much prefer the 350Z to the STI and Evo cars as well, but I'd prefer the 2 R32 GT-R's over the 350Z, ANY day of the week. The 350Z should, I agree, be called a 350ZX, but you do get quite a nice car for the price of them. I wouldn't turn one down, the only problem I found with them was when I sat in one and closed the door, the big plastic buldge that is the door intruded on my cockpit area far too much.

All right you lot, let's have you.
I don't know if I'm just a bit tired as it's getting on in the evening or what, but that had me laughing my arse off. ROFL

Take the Silicone test
I got 18, it seemed like a realtively easy test though, there were no ones where you had to really think about it too hard.

My BEST Datsun Day.
Mr. C, I've attached the only side-ish pic I took, hopefully it's what you're after, if it isn't I'm sure I'll be seeing it (the 240Z) again and I'll take some more pictures to suit your needs. sjcurtis, Doesn't it seem odd then that they're only on the front? Hopefully it is all just how it came in as I'm sure that Russell will feel better about it if it is, I know I would, hell, who am I kidding? I'd be stoked to have any 240Z no matter how many different bits it had on it LOL Oh, and Mr. C when I was talking to Terry, I said to him that once he's put his good car together out of the two he has, I'd be interested in the not so good one that would be the result of parts swapping :classic: it's probably a few years off and who knows, by then I may actually be able to afford it.

My BEST Datsun Day.
Mr. C Yeah, Terry and I were talking about how Russell's car seemed to have a few things a bit odd. We think maybe it's had fender replacements and then had the sidemarkers put in as perhaps there were holes there. Also, it has flat-top SU's, that's just plain wrong. I'm going to email him (Russell) today and tell him the things that don't add-up. Tell me... those "240Z" C-pillar emblems, are they the right kind to be on a '71? And I hadn't noticed the badges being on the wrong way, :stupid: I'll tell him about that too, someone must have played around with the car not worried about originality I expect.

the end of my 76 280z
Well, if there's a hole in your block, a new block may be the lease in life the car needs. I don't know, it just seems a shame to retire a car like the Z

Max width you can fit on 240K
Hey man,, I run 205/55-15's on all four feet on my K. The front are pretty close to touching the front struts or the spring perch at least and if she was low at the front she'd prolly rub the fender arch lip. The rears are probably 5-10mm from touching the rear quarter arch lip but because of the IRS it never rubs, obviously there's a bit more room inwards than at the front so you could have wider on the back with the right offset. The wheel size and offset figures from the Watanabe website are as follows; Recommended: F/R B 14-65 +14.5 Both Front and Rear, B-type Wheel 14x6.5" w/ a +14.5 Offset Maximum conformity: F/R F 8 15-65 +14.5 RST Both Front and Rear, Forged 8 type Wheel 15x6.5" w/ a 14.5 Offset 2000GT-R due to the flares has different sizes again, but those are the numbers you're after ie. "without major modification".

Geez man, resorting to some pretty wild excuses... Uni hasn't even started again yet has it? :D And surely if it has, someone at Uni or Uni itself .. has digital cameras. Don't lie now. LOL

My BEST Datsun Day.
Well, this afternoon, I went to the other guys house, his name is Terry. After finding out the other guys Red 240Z was number 908 he checked his when he got home, one of them is eight hundred and something and the other is in the ten thousands. Anyway, I've got some more pics that I'll put up later, I might just put his ones in my gallery. He wants me to find out some stuff for him and try source some Datsun 1600 Tail-lights and a few other things including rear arch skins for a 240Z, so if anyone can help, I'd be most appreciative. He's not very internet savvy so chances are you won't see him on here, but he's going to give me a ring next time he takes one of his 240Z's out, to go for a ride. SO chances are I'll be around his cars every now and then. He seemed impressed with all the tid-bits of information I reeled out, so I guess I have you guys to thank for that I'll try remember to upload the other pics tonight. He's going to make 1 really decent 240Z from the two cars he has and one good one. They could both easily be on the road now as they're both structurally sound except one just hasn't run in a while. As I said before he has an orange one I think the paint code was "908" or "910" or something like that and the other one is a metallic tan, but it's been resprayed that colour it's true colour is actually that light metallicy green, the same colour as "halz" car. You can see the green in the engine bay where the other paint has flaked off. We talked for a while and he remembered his first 240Z that he bought still lives in Southland somewhere which mean there's 13 in the area that he knows of, not a bad day considering yesterday I only thought there was 1.

My BEST Datsun Day.
This morning, I had to send away a courier package.. dum de doo, driving along, as one does, turn around the corner and what's that I see? A bright red Datsun 240Z. I punch the gas, quickly throw the courier parcel to the guy then wing it around and park near the 240Z, get out of my car and have a look around the car as the owner and another guy are talking about things a couple of feet from the car. I eagerly await conversation, I ask the man who appears to be the owner (deduced by conversation listening) whether he mind if I quickly rush home and grab my camera, he says, OK. Quickly I scurry back to my 240K, fire her up and scream away back to the house to get the camera, grab the camera quickly mutter a few breaths of excitement to my brother and quickly head back to the 240Z. I get there, but this time I pull up right behind the 240Z instead, as I get out of the car with the camera, the guy who wasn't the owner of the car states, "That's a ****en 240K" we converse for a while I pop the hood so he can compare the K to the Z engine and I potter off to take some pictures of aforementioned red 240Z, I get some good shots of it, considering the position of the freakin sun and then ask if I can pop the hood to take some pictures of the engine, he states "It's a bit scruffy in there" I tell him I don't mind, I pop the hood and the ****en valve cover glistens like the sun at me, I promptly inform him that his engine bay look a billion times cleaner than mine at which point he voices his disgust over the engine bay being black instead of body colour. I concur and take some more pictures. Then I decided to check out the engine plate. 901, number 901... I inform him that's pretty freakin cool. I decided to tell him about the classiczcars website he handed me his business card and now I just have to email him with the URL etc. It turns out this guy (his name is Russell) own 2 240Z cars, the red one and a race one. **** me. 2 I've never seen before, then I find out the other guy he was talking to ALSO owns 2 240Z cars. Russell pulled out a magazine image of what he thought was his dream Z, which was a G-nose article, I explain what I've picked up from this site about the G-nose and he seems impressed, so I'll hopefully be corresponding with him via email shortly. The other guy, who I neglected to get the name of :stupid: has invited me to come check out his cars at his house, he also... as it turns out, owns a 1 lady owner original Datsun 1600 with bugger all K's on it etc. SO later this afternoon I'll be going there to see him and his cars. He also gave me the name of a guy who's brother used to own a 240K so I can ring to find out where it is, he also reeled off 12 other Z's he knows of around the area!! FAR OUT! WHAT A DAY! :D I'll attach a few pics of the Red 240Z that caught my eye.

S20 ex. mani.
I see, very true. The picture (I thought I had more around somewhere) I have certainly isn't the same as the one you have in your gallery, infact, it isn't even the same as this one. The tubes get progressively higher the closer they get to the firewall, obviously to a tuned length, looks odd though.

Out of curiousity Alan, Is this a Factory part or a common aftermarket, or did you get it made, as I've got a few pictures of S20 engine bays and they have the same distinct pipes than curve upwards. It's excellent whatever the case.

A 240Z for my Collection
Yeah, the engine bay is entirely detailed in chrome... pity the engine bay isn't very realitisic, it shows intake and exhaust manifolds on opposing sides To be honest I'm not realy sure why the plug is sitting there, it doesn't serve any purpose but I guess it's appropriate to have a factory Nissan NGK plug behind a 240Z
