1. BTA: There seems to be a growing number of members here in NJ. I'm located in Morris County as are several others members in the immediate area. St.Stephen and back2zs are both local as well; early240z is in Staten Island; I believe there are a few members in Central NJ. Give a shout or send a PM and let us know where you are. Nothing like beer and wrenching during the summertime (and I could use the help).

Umm..., Rick... I might caution you against lighting up after sucking down a bit of fuel... It's not so much the fire, but rather the heat that'll get ya... :stupid: :stupid: Just needed to be said.
3. And let us not forget the obligatory... At least it's correct twice a day
4. Just called... This might get me a driver...
5. My message to the seller: And the Sellers response: 'bout what you'd expect...

Grew up in NJ, schooled in Buffalo, NY and then relocated to Arizona. I'd be back in AZ in a instant if I knew I could maintain secure work there. As a result, I'm back in NJ (like to stay until retirement) and then back to AZ. Luckily I have family (wifes side) in AZ to visit on occassion. I suspect the next visit will result in me missing my return flight only to bring a no-rust driver home. I'll be sure to call upon our AZ members to help me recon a vehicle before my next trip...
7. Use a screwdriver and pry up (ever so gently) from the underside. Put the blade beneath, pry a bit, and wiggle a section out. Nothing else holds it in place aside from just a tight fitting.
8. Hi!

Welcome Elaine... You'll find the regulars are a good bunch and the conversation is good intentioned and helpful (if not comical in the odd-ball thread). Having read your sigline, I gotta ask what type of work you do, if it pertains to your non-Z work... hopefully not a surgeon.

10. Have you got a pic of the rear half? I think in the old thread a few of us had inquired how much to take the entire 'heap' off your hands... Any thoughts? Additional pics?
11. From when I called around, no action is taken to remove undercoating, gooey areas, etc. You've gotta tackle that yourself. I had also looked in dipping (perform a forum search) and the price was close to a bit higher. Dipping removes all undercoating, bondo and ALSO seam sealer. I'm told, dipping while a better result, requires much extra work and usually results in a much 'creakier' car as many seal areas can't be resealed unless you remove skins. I'm still on the fence about sending for blasting vs. doing myself. Time is on my side, I'm in no hurry and feel chemical stripper and grinding may be sufficient. I assume when using hte grinding wheel, it is necessary to spread filler (bondo) to fill in the grooves, etc.
12. Last I checked in the $1000 neighborhood. You're mileage may vary.
13. I've just removed my float/sender assembly and it contains much rust coating. As I can't place it into a rock tumbler (with sand) due to wiring and size, any thoughts on best way to remove scaling? (will post pic). I was planning on dremel with sanding attachment but figured I'd ask around.
14. Kats, For cleaning up of the clamps, did you use a rock-tumbler with sand or just hand clean? I've pulled most off my 71... bad rust condition (will post pics) and several bolts snapped (couldn't remove even after soaking in cup of penetrant). I likely won't use them as I doubt I'll go a full restore (too costly). I'd rather clean them up and perhaps use (decide later).
15. In many/most states, you don't need to fear the authorities when shooting someone breaking into/invading your home (dead or alive or injured). Many of the NRA publications are very fond of reprinting blurbs from the police blotters around the country. However it is rare that a blurb is printed from NYC, NJ and many other metropolitan areas. At least here in NJ, criminals are afforded more rights than citizens. A thief could hold a gun to your head and/or assaulting your family but if you shot them, you'd go to jail. Drives me nuts... That being said, around these parts, thinking of 'firing' at someone for stealing your stuff is pretty much a jail sentence.

The trick is finding that O So Coveted Z girl... Years ago (in my youth) I walk out to my Z in a lot and found a girl beneath the car... a good friendship developed which later inlcuded benefits. Nothing quite like a little action in the Z to be followed by Z talk. She later bought the Z, then wrecked it (see gallery). Never met a girl since who was as much a fan of the ride (the Z ride that is...)
17. I had sent a note to the seller pointing out some of the discrepencies and that he was calling it a restoration... nicely worded... was curious what the response would be. The reply... Hello. Thank you for pointing these issues. The reserve is set at $9000. Thanks. Alex.
18. Just noticed this eBay auction Hose Clamp Auction
19. Not sure if we discussed this one... eBay Arizona Restoration My initial observations: No Engine Bay Light Speakers in Doors Dash Cover Incorrect Seats (?) 20. Oh Carl... I've seen that comic before, but after the edits, it had me rolling.... Holly: glad to see you posted the pic in good fun... do get it to the Mug Shot board... I just got around to posting mine as well and its starting to fill up nicely. Frank: Post the pic... your move.
21. I've removed my fuel tank and would like to disassemble the fuel level sender and assembly so I can better inspect the interior. Once apart, I'll set all aside for future work. Problem is the send is well rusted to the tank. It has set in a pool of Kroils penetrant for hours with little success. It appears a special tool may be needed to remove the sender. It is basically a circle with three notches or tabs at 12, 4 and 8 o'clock. Any thoughts on the best way to remove?
