  1. Almost totally off topic, but, IS Nissan actually supporting any Z meets/shows, or is it just their dealers? As I understand it(and I am the first to admit I could easily be wrong), I don't believe Nissan USA has contibuted anything for the ZCCA convention in Daytona though the local dealership(s) have gotten involved. Actual thread-pertinant content:Nissan Sport arrived sucessfully in todays mail-pardon me while I read it cover to cover!
  2. Art, I have yet to see a magazine be self-supporting while limiting coverage to one make and model of car-let alone a span of four(70-73), or nine(70-78) model years. Some people would rather bitch about something than work on it-glad to know you aren't one of them! Will PS, My car is going to be at Daytona ready or not, so tag, you're it!
  3. I wonder if the lyrics I wrote on a napkin in the lounge...after all I was at a Holiday Inn Express in Clearwater...Uh-nevermind. I listen to Keith Urban, Kenny, Clint, Alan, Toby, Cletus, Trisha, Gretchen, MR& Mrs. Mcgraw, Merl, Johnny, Reba, Hank & son, One Trick Pony, and too many others to list, but Buffet, Aerosmith, BTO, Alan Parsons, Styx, LRB, Wynton, Firefall, 38 Special, Cheep Trick, Billy Joel, and a great many more round out the mix as well. Will
  4. The young ones had a very rough night(they slept most of the trip-and with two...)Looks like the answers are already here-my measurements are spot-on to his! Will
  5. Any type of music that can handle our Bill's life is ok with me! Will Seriously, I listen to Country several times a week.
  6. I bought one of the "shaker lights" at Bass Pro for the same reason-it uses a loose magnet moving through a coil, and gives a good bit of light for a reasonable time from a good series of shakes. I also bought a solar charged led flash light at Dollar General, It is the best deal for the purpose I have found by far. 10 ultra bright leds-plenty of light!, about 5 hours of use for an hour in bright sunlight(on the dash while traveling) and it can charge from passing headlights as well! I wish I had bought ten of them-can't find them anymore. Will
  7. I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once-in ClearWater!, does that count? Seriously, I enjoy most music-though some radio stations do play the same noise that makes me think a radio obviously needs repair! Will
  8. Yes, it is as issued for late '71-'73. Will
  9. Vicky, All of these little issues are purely temporary! No reason to be depressed over them. In a few weeks, you will be cruising in the car with a big smile on your face, decent gas mileage, and no bogging or smoke from the exhaust!!! Treat this just like your favorite desert, finish ot off one bite at a time! Will
  10. Vicky, Getting with Jim and letting him test a few things with the O2 meter and his other bag of tricks would be my first move-too many unknows in terms of mods means at this point all we know is the color of the smole and the bogging down-both indicate problems. Jims tests would tell us what the engine is doing, and the problem could be solved backwards letting the perforance guide the changes. Will
  11. I'll resemble that remark as soon as I quit noving sandpaper, and get the paint done! Will
  12. Update! I picked up the rally clock and oscillator today. The bad news is the quartz movement does not have enough torque to move the mechanism of the clock. The good news is I spent an hour talking with the gentleman who worked on it, and discussed several ideas I had for get'n 'r done! I have two known options for high torque motors, one of which I collected as insurance after dropping the clock off, and one of which I will order next week after trying out the motor I already have. The gentle man did kind of a "why didn't I think of that" when I 'splainde the first idea. I'll update as I continue to get to the bottom of this. Will
  13. I'm going to coat it with good old rubberized vegamite-as soon as the outdated shipment gets hereROFL! Actually it will get sealed with a serious slathering of tie coat primer and Por15 lowgloss. I triedthis combo on a cupon, and it looks to be all but serious impact proof so it should hold up well in that location. Will
  14. Hope this helps-measurements are in inches-a ziplock was all I found to write on-thank goodness I had a sharpie! WIll measurements.bmp hls30passide.bmp hls30dside.bmp
  15. Looks like the seller had a statement prepaired-I got the same thing... Will
  16. I asked the seller what made him think it was a black pearl. His reply was that he never claimed it was, leading me to believe his intention was to cause the confusion we have in this thread and get some good bids based on the chance that the car could be what it absolutely is not-if it were, the seller would have capitalized BLACK PEARL and tagged the blurb everywhere. It is, at best, one of the undocumented number of 280Zs that came in Black pearl metalic paint with out being dressed by Nissan as a black pearl. Will Still, a pretty car....
  17. It is probably a black pearl only in his mind... I see no evidence that it is or was... All it took to make a black pearl was a trim kit-this car has none of the pieces...funny thing about that little white speck on the top of chook poo, it's chook poo too! Will
  18. Not in Savannah yet... Will
  19. Not yet, but, It is on the horizon inthe next three weeks-as the car WILL be painted within that time frame barring Natural disaster, Man made problems or an intergalactic bypass... Will PS, I will be posting some pictures soon. The early part of this week am hanging all of the sheet metal back on the car and adjusting it to perfection to prepare to finalze the body work and block her out. Then it all comes back off the paint the openings and the in and back sides. Then all back together for final paint!!! The end of this week I am going to get my rally clock and hopefully post some contact info for all of you lot with ecd (Electric clock disfunction!)!
  20. I've done both. The full cover is fine for a driver, the restore is what you need for points in a car show, but unless that is your goal, correctly installing a full cover will be all but identical, not be noticed but by a very few, and leave $500-600 for other things. When I get closed to installing the dash, I'll post pictures of a cover, a restored dash and a NOS dash sid by side. thed Restoration and the NOS dash are already pictured side by side in my gallery-as well, there is a picture of a full face cover in my red Z. Have a look, and see which you prefer...considering both the restoration and the cover are slightly different texture that the original... WIll The key is careful installation of the cover. I wrote a post on it.
  21. Leave it to Your Bill! I told you he needed a higher edjumacashun! Maybe we could spring for a ticky for him to visit and train with you for a while-I recon that'd cure what ails him! You'd be right, the bloody ocker would never again let a growling dog get in the way of his having a cros species naughty at night on the beach:stupid:-reminds me of a picture suposably of you and a sheep on a motorbike:finger:... Obviously Nobody parties like AustraliansROFL! Now before you lot get to thinking this thread has gone and strayed far from it origin, let me remind you that Bill and his chook go together like a hand and a glove-I won't even get into the whole pieces parts thing! Rick...How did you know I was born in Texas? Will
  22. Well, Since we haven't heard anything, I traded for a copy of one with a hood. The exterior is very good, the interior is lacking bracing, and the openings in the vent have not been cut out. I have to replace the studs as they were not embedded in the fiberglass properly. Will
  23. I have a weekend warrior buddy who is a Corpsman in the Navy, he is good to all service men until the Army/Navy football game, then he is all about telling the army guys "I'm a squid, eat me!" Rick might that be the wild drop bear you mentioned (as opposed to the cute and cuddly domesticated variety) to some Yanks while on exercize? Will
  24. I'm stripping each body panel for a complete repaint. The Chassis is ready, now for all the parts that bolt on! I have a couple of small patches to weld in, the attery tray to remove, and the laast bit of bodywork to do... Will
  25. I have more work than I can get done-just spent the last 14 hours on the Z-and you are bored? Hop a plane and come help! Daytona is reapidly approaching.... Will
