Redwing's Car - An Update
That silly spell checker keeps changing Greg's name to Grey's. I have tried to change it, but instead just made a second and 3rd post. Blah! Sorry...

Gosh I am sorry to hear about your accident. How horrible for you, especially the first drive! Dear one, you need to take care of your emotions too. I know you are heartbroken. Remember, they say if you fall from a horse, get back on. You need a Z car, it is in your blood. Don't let anything stop you from reaching for the stars, you might get the Moon. My Dad used to tell me that, and it helped so much. It will be different, but it will be OK. Promise! Take a deep breath... Jai

Redwing's Car - An Update
Fastwoman said to me, a myriad of small things can compound and make a much bigger problem, than if each on their own. So maybe? (Not negating Grey's vacuum line work, thanks Greg.) She also kept insisting Check Vacuum lines for leaks! Yes Blue, many Prayerz answered! Jai

Redwing's Car - An Update
Steve, Greg, and Tony really went far and above expectation working on RedBird yesterday. I really want to thank these fine gentlemen for putting such effort and time into her for me. I think it was 7:30-8:00 when they finally quit. It was amazing to watch, all those hands doing their choice of jobs. At one point the back end almost looked like a tornado hit her. Gas tank gone, the deck area was torn up with the inner parts laying in a pile inside her. Be still my heart I thought, they will return her to her glory again. And they did. Hahaha As of today, this is my experience with her. Steve will write what they all did, I kept track, writing it all down. So you will get the whole picture later on. This morning when I went to church, RB got me there. But she was not doing super well. Doing small loping, and would not go over 45 mph. No matter how much gas I gave her. The knock in the back was knocking so fast it was like a machine gun. Fooey, I thought. As I was starting out to come home, it was not so severe. Then, just as if I HAD FLIPPED A SWITCH, it instantly stopped AND DROVE NORMAL. I could not hardly believe it. Like when I first got her. So I drove on towards Eton, turned around and started from a dead stop. Revved her a bit, did a fast start, and got to 65 before going into 4th gear. She took all the load as a matter of fact, no problem. It was like something had been blocking her from getting fuel, and suddenly it cleared! Poof, all over she said, let's go! So I will be taking her on short trips like Steve mentioned to test her further. But I am much more at ease with her now than before, even when we drove down the drive. Tomorrow I plan to go 10 miles round trip, to Chatsworth (to get chicken feed, they are out). After this morning I do not expect any problems. Oh, when she was snuggled into her carport, I revved her a bit, while listening and sniffing. She gave a SMALL poooof backfire each time I revved. So quiet I had to listed hard to hear it. That's All Folks... Jai

Finally, some nice weather!
I have folks stop me everytime I park RedBird. First they say "is it for sale?" Quickly followed by one of Rossi z's comments "I used to..."! Nooo, but if you want one, better do it, they are getting scarce. Here in the south, folks are offended if the conversation ends before 20 minutes, and they have not been able to ask you "Ramsay? Are you kin to XXXXX Ramsay in Possum Kingdom (a real place in S.C.), he is my step half cousin in law? You have to be kin here, no matter how remote! Hahaha

Redwing's Car - An Update
Steve and all, I was reading a new post, "Poor Gas Mileage 77 280 Z." I mentioned early after I joined, but I don't know if anyone heard me, that RedBird has awful mileage too, 18 mpg. She has been doing this ever since I received her. So now reading this post, maybe this is involved with her problem ('s). Mentoning it, so those that have their thinking caps on regarding RedBird, would have access to this information. Thanks, Jai

You are right a out it being non-poisonous. I had 3 Rat snakes getting my eggs out of the hen house. Then I found a much smaller King snake, and aimed it near the hen house. Now I get my eggs, and that pipsqueak King snake has the fun of running the others off. Or killing them, whatever, they're gone. Yay. Not afraid of them unless they surprise me. Be still my heart!- Redwing's Car - An Update
Reporting, the gauge after overnight, is now resting at zero. Steve, my ex left me with a pair of exceedingly strong magnets. So strong, a finger would suffer Much Damage if suddenly caught in between them. I noted someone used magnets to collect the debris in the tank by placing them in strategic places. As a temp remedy natch. Knowing this, and the availability of such magnets, I am just offering this as an assistant to my problems. When you are here you can make a decision as to use them or not. Just a FYI, not too many people would have the availability of these magnets. Especially a female. Hahaha Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
Sounds good, thank you. Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
At 8:30 tonite, still at 26.- Redwing's Car - An Update
Rechecked the gauge, it has been a little over an hour, it is showing 26 now. When she was running earlier, it was smooth as silk. No roughness.- Redwing's Car - An Update
Hi, Feeling I need to do something to pass the time until Steve comes again. Decided I would check the fuel pressure gauge, and start her again just to see what happens since she has been resting for 3 days. The gauge was on zero when checked before starting. No surprise. Starting her, she said OK, and immediately jumped to life. No hesitation. On checking the gauge while running, it appeared to be on 32. Let her run for a short time, and cut her off. Rechecking the gauge and it showed 28. I will do a recheck in a bit to see how quickly it drops. So good to hear her "sing" to me! Hhmmmmmmm..... Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
Supposedly the injectors were cleaned and checked in Jacksonville, where she was from Dec.1 to Mar.1. But he said he changed the oil too, tho when she got here it was Black. So who knows. I don't know actually what was done except the 2 small surface rust spots. I know that was done, because there is red paint now. Greg, we're you asking if the FI cleaner could be used before the 28th? Does that need to be done before y'alls visit? If so I will get some to do it, but RedBird will only idle in the carport. She is not going anywhere. Thanks everyone for your help, in whatever way you share. Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
Steve, The 29th is fine with me. Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
Hi all, As soon as I got home I had to take a pain pill and lay down. My leg was in some serious pain. I did not do anything before that, only helped the tow truck driver to get her in the carport. That was all I could do at the time. Just now, I went out and checked the gauge, it was on about 34. Progressed to starting her. No grinding, she instantly started. After that, checked the gauge again, and it was around 32. Both of these events surprised me. I had expected negative results. But I am hopeful that since they were positive that this is a good thing, for the next step of her repairs. Cliff, yes indeed Steve is a Southern Gentleman 100%. I am so fortunate for him volunteering to help me with my RedBird. Jai- Redwing's Car - An Update
Home again, towed home again, riggedy jig jig. Heading out for Church. Started fine, by the time I reached the highway (1mile) starting to run real rough. Drove on, getting worse, not gaining speed with gas pedal pushed hard. Would not go over 30 mph. Then stayed alive but losing speed with no gas pedal help. Just kept losing speed, until when almost no movement, then engine died (1 1/2 miles). Would not restart. Called tow truck. Sigh... Jai- '71-240 Z Redwing 200,000 miles

Great looking car. Hope it will become the car of your dreams. What is hanging from the right rear side of the bumper? I have seen it on a couple of cars, and I do not know. Thanks, Jai- ZCON 2015 Video

That surely is the truth, wouldn't we each love to have been part of this magnificent car, the 240Z. My thanks to Kat. I read all of your observations, as I had no idea of all these happenings. I just know I love the Z! I now have my second one, coming to me in my second youth of my life. A 1971, and now a 1976 at 72 years old. Sign me a Zoholic!
