  1. Any aussies here interested in a 260C? http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=152430#post152430
  2. Well.....I've just aquired myself a Datsun 260C! The only catch is, as much as I love it I really don't need another car right now....so I want to see if anyone else is interested in taking it on. I'm more than happy to hang onto it until I have time for it though! Definitely in two minds about passing it on. It does need some work, but really is the perfect base for a project. Here's a few details on it (copy and paste from an email): I've attached a few pics. More to come when I get it home.
  3. Wow! Very nice example! If I lived down there I'd be bidding.
  4. Lachlan: I have a mate here with some brand spankin new (but a few years old) extractors for a K. I'd say he'd part with them cheap. Let me know if you're interested.
  5. I'd previously been recommended (and used) sewing machine oil. I'm now using a machine oil - engine oil mixture and it's eleventy billion time better. Nice sharp throttle response. Now...I just can't remember the damn ratio!
  6. You also need to realise the term "rice" has evolved somewhat.....well at least over here is australia it has. For example, a mitsubishi lancer with a huge body kit, neons, graphics and a fart can for an exhaust is considered rice. A hyundai excel with the same mods = rice (but it's korean). A V6 commodore with the same mods would also get called rice. Any yank car again with the same sort of mods = rice. Basically anything with purely cosmetic mods with no real thought for performance would be considered rice. I don't think there'd be a single person here that would call a zed car rice purely because it's Japanese.
  7. Oh right...I seemed to recall the later 260Zs is australia had an internally regulated one, but I could be wrong.
  8. Hang on....didn't notice you had a 280Z. Whoops. :stupid: That'd probably have an internally regulated alternator. Anyone confirm?
  9. Visiting some sheep in New Zulund, bro?
  10. Umm....I certainly noticed his absence, but have no idea what the stry behind it is?
  11. On an aussie zed anyway, the voltage regulator is a black box on the right hand side of the engine bay, infront of the strut tower. Big plug with 6 wires going into. Will take a pic of it this arvo if ya want. Sounds like you have a similar problem to me, not charging enough. For years I just chucked it on a charger once a week or so. Eventually I adjusted the voltage regulator which has helped, enough that I don't need an external charger. It charges well when the car is cold and it day driving, eg 14.5V, then after a few min it'll drop to 13.0 or so. At night with the lights on it's down around 12 or less. When the new engine goes in i'll be switching to an internally regulated alternator.
  12. In that case the alternator is probably not making the power it should be. I couldn't be sure where it should move to though as the ammeter in my zed has never worked. It's quite possible that the alternator itself is fine, but the regulator is rooted.
  13. Have a look at this thread, plenty of good info on floor coatings there. http://pforums.company-hosting.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67193353
  14. The logo? See James' post. It's the decepticons logo, from transformers, the kids TV show from many years ago.
  15. What's the go with this fuel gauge fuse? I didn't think there's one just for the fuel gauge. Anyhow, your wiring loom really sounds much like the one in my zed.....really butchered! Over the past 3 years I've owned the car I've put many many hours into rewiring things, trying to get it all back to stock. If there had have been a brand new off the shelf wiring loom for an aussie 260 available....I would have done that. Really, you need to get yourself a good wiring diagram then spend a few hours going over it and your car with multimeter. You'll track down your fault sooner or later, but I wont kid ya, it'll take some time (and lots of uncomfortable positions).
  16. I'd recommend you get your hands on the correct wiring diagram for your model of zed, then trace out the power feeds for all the gauges. Definitely check for any loose wires coming from the two loom plugs behind the centre console. The ign feed to the stereo is sure to have come from there (and if it didn't, someone wired it up the hard way).
  17. Wow! Looks like it will be a brilliant package Brycey! Just wondering, who did the manifold....it looks the goods.
  18. One of my mates has a a really really big and very shiny decepticon logo on the bonnet of his black Z32! It's funny stuff. The looks it gets are quite amusing. Lachlan: Skyline of Love!

Plenty of these is oz. They're certainly quite a cult car here. In fact for years there was one (still running a NA A series) that was the outright fastest car at the local bitument sprints. Very impressive car to watch! The only faster cars now are a modified evo 8 and Skimmo's 240Z turbo (see my gallery).
  20. A few years back I could have certainly used this for exactly that reason.

  22. I'll be happy to contribute when I get the chance. Currently extractors -> 2.25" -> single straight through lukey muffler, on a lazy L26. Should be interesting to hear the difference when the new motor goes in.
  23. As much as I love a stock zed (that's what I'd be posting here as the best looking zed ever), the chopped roof does look good. The way it's done there it doesn't mess up the cars lines at all.
