  1. Got some new grit and picked up some inexpensive hvlp guns for primer and such.
  2. And for us Canadians, with a dollar sinking fast, I expect my build to end up over 45,000 easily. And that's with me doing 90% of the labour. Add another $20,000 if I was outsourcing easily.... And when I'm done, it'll be worth $27,000 on the street... Good thing I'll never sell it!
  3. Tip of the Week: Replace the grit in your media blasting bucket after approx 10 filter/recycles max.... After about 25 filter/recycles, I am now working in a black cloud of grit dust that is obscuring all vision and blasting efficiency has been reduced to 20-30% at best.... I will be picking up new grit tomorrow!
  4. My local car club is sending a few people out. I will not be with them. Military exercises during that time...
  5. I doubt it too. I will change it out soon. Got a lot done today. Only snapped a quick picture. The grit is getting smaller as I recycle it. I will need a new bag soon. Too much fine grit and it's taking longer now.
  6. Yup. They are expensive! I have two boxes of pellets. That way I can swap them out as needed while a set is drying. So far so good and the manufacturer says 6 months is normal usage.
  7. It is also full of dessicant pellets sitting between two isolators (one at the top and bottom) holding the pellets in the middle, leaving a four inch gap for water at the bottom.
  8. True. That is why my air dryer has the big ball valve at the low point of my system. It allows me to close the ball valve at the compressor, then open the ball valve on the drain every night. Several times a day while sandblasting too...
  9. Nice. On my list.
  10. lol, I'm jealous of your level of completeness! I am glad I have a 18CFM 60 Gallon. It runs non-stop almost while I'm blasting but pressure never drops below 100psi. I let it rest every bucket refill. If I stop blasting for a minute or two it catches up and shuts off. I bought the moisture separator from Princess Auto and it has been fantastic. Removes all the moisture in the system.
  11. I am actually quite pleased with the minimal amount of dust being generated. I use a face mask of course, but I would not want to use sand under any circumstance! Plus, I am glad I am not using the crushed glass as it is so fine, I would be worried about breathing any of that in!
  12. Currently, my garage has my summer weekend car, the 2010 370Z under it's winter nightie... Besides her, are my dailies. A 2008 Lincoln MKX (stock image. No idea why I have no pictures of mine!) and a 2013 Hyundai Turbo Veloster (posing here with my lovely wife who drives it!) The garage also hold a my Craftsman Kohler tractor and my son-in-laws Vulcan 800... The back shop holds the 280Z as she undergoes restoration...
  13. If you look at the amount of asphalt residue left on the park brake assembly behind the RT mount, then look at the pic below where it has been sandblasted, the difference is night and day!
  14. Yes, it is right to the metal. A somewhat rough finish that will bond well with the POR15 when I get to that stage.... It looks dull compared to the section of tunnel that I did with the EZ Strip wheel...
  15. I will probably need this thread sooner or later
  16. The great part is I can blast clean all the way up into the suspension towers and behind the spare tire well between the frame and well.
  17. This is what it looks like between clean up sessions. Not great pictures but the first shot shows all the grit on the floor. Second after it has been filtered and put back in the blaster bucket.
  18. Right now I am using a five gallon pail with black beauty copper slag grit. I picked up a ten foot siphon hose and pipe along with a basic gun for $22. This is working awesome! Proper protective gear hinders the progress a hit but overall it is working very well.
  19. Well, the asphalt undercoating is history. Let the sandblasting begin! So far so good. My sandblaster seems to have a hard time with a full load of grit in the bucket. Almost like the hose diameter is too small for the weight of the media. I remove all but a cup or two of media from the gravity fed bucket and it works awesome! Gonna have to re-jig this somehow. When it works, it works extremely well.
  20. Nice pics Mark! Looks like a lot of good parts!
  21. Test fit my RT diff mount. No issues at all. Lots of clearance for installation.
  22. I wish greyhound shipped into Canada... I'm six hours from the nearest border.
  23. The car was never in an original enough state to restore it to factory. Replacement panels, multiple paint jobs and body work etc. Plus my wife wanted a safer and more modern version of the 280. It will be a resto-mod and be somewhat true to original. The main visual cue will be the 240 bumpers on the car instead of the 5mph monsters. Thanks Matt! Same to you!
