  1. Scraped a little of the bottom as a test. Rubbed it lightly with isopropyl and .... Looks good!
  2. Stop posting pictures of your car in your signature block! It's making my keyboard sticky from all the drool.....

It looks good! I compliment you on your attention to detail!
  4. It's on it's way. Here in canadia shipping takes forever. I'll see it closer to Xmas.
  5. Nothing but bitterness and old age.... Same reasons that make me so stubborn! seriously though, no deformation or burrs. Just rusted in for 40 years.
  6. Believe me , having access to the tools at work makes this project worthwhile. I have invested a small fortune in tools at home, still...
  7. You see nothing...

I am painting dark green so it might not be an issue but I wasn't sure if it SHOULD be body colour. I have a year or two to think about it..
  9. Makes a hell of a necklace tho....
  10. I agree. Not sure if you can opt out or not...

Great thread and awesome restoration. I am curious to know whether or not the body colour paint was used in the wheels wells, or was it painted/coated black? I'm referring to factory condition, as I see this car is body colour...
  12. The spindle pin finally decided to play nice... Sort of. 3 days of ATF plus 450 degrees Celsius hand shaking, followed by about 30 tonnes of pressure... And out she came!
  13. I wish we lived closer.....
  14. No, it rolled over for a belly rub!
  15. Very nice work! I'm glad you're taking the time to document it well.
  16. I could run a sawzall around or a cutting wheel... less spark with a sawzall, less deformation with a cutting wheel.....
  17. ZCON would be awesome and my Car Club is sending a few representatives, but I will not be one of them unfortunately. Unless the military sends me to Ontario for something in the same time frame that I could sandwich it in! I knew I was in trouble when the air impact and nut remover tool starting hammering away at the opposite threaded end and the threaded portion of the spindle just tore off like butter... the other spindle spun nicely while being torqued. And yeah, I was very close to buying a small 30 tonne shop press for bushings and such and thought, hey! this should do the trick!....Glad I took it to work and realized it's not the press that's the problem here... It's not just that.....it's ONTARIO! ewwwwwwwwww..... Yes, I still have options. The ATF fluid is hopefully going to free up the pin for the press. Failing that, I have heat. If that still looks like the pin won't move before damaging other components, I have drill presses, milling machines, lathes, explosives......
  18. I will let the spindle soak over the weekend (no time left today to play) and then attempt the press again on Tuesday when I have access again. If that fails to make things move, out comes the torch and the press together!
  19. Just found a Minty kick panel cover for $30 on ebay! Other auctions listed them at $50 plus....
  20. And as for the quote: I was going for the allusion to the famous line as I was not using a machine gun. Of which I have many here at work
  21. My Mat Tech explained that the heat would make it break free from each other but after that, it won't make them move any better than the pressure due to the metals both expanding at the same rate. Soaking in ATF followed by another round of pressure should make things move easier. Heat was originally applied but had no effect on the pin as both parts expanded together. I'm trying to be patient and not break anything along the way...
  22. Well. It moved. I am not going to push my luck beyond 60 tonnes of force. Going to soak it in ATF... Those are grade 8 nuts I was pushing with... Note the deformity!
  23. The offending seized spindle pin section... We will see how he likes my little friend!
