  1. completely cutting out the floors and having other sheetmetal replacing it. good or bad for the unibody and can it get messed up?
  2. can a 510 fit on the rotisserie for a z easily if I have the engine, glass and doors, suspension removed? how would you go about attacking the undercoat to remove it? the floors will need to be cut out completely to weld new materials in, its pretty bad... so would you clean the areas surrounding the floors, remove then cut? or do something like oven cleaner then spray the whole underbody? then after that, what would you suggest I do to keep the pans from rusting out again?
  3. cutting out the bad parts of the floor (almost the whole thing) treating the rust and riveting galvanized steel on as the floors. good idea bad idea?
  4. union city... grew up in fremont.. I heard of that shop. I guess I'll give em a call up if I end up getting it in and its bad.
  5. how expensive could a rebuild be?

  11. the car's in carl's and my neighborhood... i'm there for school almost everyday. if someone wants, i could check it out. but who's to say that the firewall couldnt be welded in as well?
  12. if i take the brake master and slave, front and rear brakes from a 280zx and install them on my 510, do i use 280zx brake lines or 510?
  13. what honda wheels would you put on a z? hahah it should work with my 510
  14. does look kinda fishy you could always look on the firewall but then again, that could be fudged too
  15. i talked to another 510 guy and what I'm going to end up doing is installing 280zx front and rear brakes, and the ride height will be fixed when i go ahead and do this.. off topic, but what is the difference between an open and closed chamber head? I need to replace my head, and if I do that, do the pistons need to be matched to the head? and will it damage the engine if not?
  16. its all good... i figured that the L series engines were pretty similar. i'm gonna get my floors replaced and por 15'd soon
  17. are you saying i am walmart caliber? :D
  18. I figured that z's and 510's arent too much different, types of engines and interchangeable parts... but i could be wrong
  19. yep... I am used to seeing modified cars I probably will be using a pair of shortened 280zx struts up front when i get the car fixed. here it is from the side
  20. I have a 510 that look like its got the wrong struts on it. the engine is going to get yanked eventually, and when it gets put back in, it'll need a front suspension rebuild. If I have the engine and tranny out, will it be hard to remove as well?
  21. i have an L16 that has a dead cylinder. my neighbor's boyfriend said he could get a hold of another head that has been ported and polished. what other things need to be done if this head is different from what I have? I'm going to have the engine yanked because there's an oil leak, and a buddy of mine may be able to do the rebuild for me. the engine's gonna have to last me a while...

  23. can they handle say... 250 to 300 hp or so?
  24. also my floor pans need replacing driver and passenger side. why would it be a pain to sandblast and primer if I was going to keep the car away from the elements?
