Project Boondoggle (or, so I went and bought a Z!)
Much better numbers. I would think with the first numbers you had the car would have barely moved

[2015] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
moelk, I have an unusual question. Can you actually see anything in the mirrors when they are mounted so far forward? I have often wondered whether they are functional at all in that location.

Intermittent Loss Of Power-1972 240Z Stock
The suggestion was good. I wasn't picking on it just had concerns about how it would hold up or unforeseen consequences.

Switch from Cannon to Harada Triple Manifold
Mike, Thanks for the links. I would buy the intake today if I had the extra cash. I saved the listing. You would think if the filters were suspect the two guys with GT40's wouldn't be running them...

What would you do to your 240z if on a $3500 budget?
L28's on car-part.com There are 8 in PA alone most of the engines in the query are $200-$500. Many are "$Call"

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Yeah, I didn't think it would be a problem either. I guess the largest forces on the welds are them trying to rotate from braking or acceleration. With the whole circumference welded it aught to be fine.

Intermittent Loss Of Power-1972 240Z Stock
The pick up tubes are soldered into the tank. If it was mine I would take it to a radiator repair shop and see if they would clean it and solder in a new pickup tube. You may have to source the tube for them. I would be afraid to try and patch the tube for fear of restricting it.

Switch from Cannon to Harada Triple Manifold
How did you go about purchasing this manifold exactly? I have tried looking some in Japan but the language is quite the barrier for me. Also where did you source the airhorns and filters? I like those too. The setup looks great and very clean. I like all the braided hose.

A Project Is Brewing...
Will that keep it from oxidizing? How often do you have to reapply it?

Ultra-Z-Geek Question: What is the purpose of the spring in the wiper linkage gear?
Maybe at some point. Way down the list though...just getting educated.

A Project Is Brewing...
Still looks good though. Are you going to protect it with something?

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
So you have some spare voltage. I have a 210 amp welder. I wasn't sure your welds were penetrating as much as they could. I would have probably turned it up a bit but I don't think you will have an issue. Most of the load on the strust is compression. I like to be sure my welds burn in a little more around the edges. If you look at the welds in "Careless's"?? thread his puddles lay down a little more. He is TIGing I believe but the same principle. When I see them sort of bead up like water on oil I add some heat.

What would you do to your 240z if on a $3500 budget?
I watched a guy buff a windshield with Meguiars "Mirror glaze" it worked pretty good. He had a large rotary buffing machine. As I get older the other window crank gets further and further away. Same with the heated seats. My bad back likes the heat even when I drive to Texas and the AcCis on in the car. Occupational hazard I guess...

Silver Soldering Jets
Jim, Thanks for that. I was wondering about the exactness of these sets and how to source them.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Matt, What welder are you using? Did you build the exhaust yourself or did someone else weld it up?

Project Boondoggle (or, so I went and bought a Z!)
I wouldn't try to remove the sludge, but that's me. If you dislodge some of it could cause issues.

Project Boondoggle (or, so I went and bought a Z!)
Doesn't the intake have to be open somehow? On carbureted carbs I believe you hold the throttle open so the butterflies don't restrict the intake of air.

Oh my!
Very pretty car R200, cv axles, tower braces. Very nicely done but that is a lot of money for a Z car. My dizeaze my eventually pay for itself or at least break even...
