  1. Hi Phillip, yeah there are not many 67.5 2000 racers any longer, maybe 5 or 6. The most famous one was Jack Scoville's 67.5 serial #4. Bob Klemme rebodied that roadster back to it's original configuration and sold about 2 years ago for 50K. It was shipped to Australia My car is #305 do you know the serial number of the car shown above? Or do you have contact information for the owner, it would be nice to touch base with him. I have also started a blog with details of all my cars: www.rcnetworksracing.com Thanks, Ron
  2. Hi Phillip, There are some things that could be done to the car to get me lower in the car, but I am unwilling to modify the car. This car has history back to 1968 and It is a half year car, a 1967.5 2000, the rarest of the rare Datsun roadsters (there were only 1000 1967.5 2000's produced), so cutting up is not an option. I am working on a 510 and as soon as it is done it will become the work horse racer, the roadster will get a little bit of a break. Kathy and Rick, Do you know Vinny Bedini <sp>? he is still working with Bob Sharp on a couple of projects. I have purchased parts from Vinny from time to time. Thank you for your kind words, Omar is a very nervous driver, and although you don't see it in the video, he pushed really hard at the beginning of the race and then held up a bunch of traffic. I was right at the front of 6 to 10 cars trying to get around him. In talking to Omar after the race, he complained about his tires. But he was on racing radials and I was on hard compound bias ply tires. The video tells the story, he should have let us by and raced with cars at his level, but oh well. We had fun and that is what counts! I was 5 years old when John and Horst raced at Laguna, but I do know the story and am looking forward to seeing John and Horst next week at the Peterson Museum for the Trans AM revival.

I think that his asking price optomistic at the very least...
  4. Look at the rules for the organizations you are going to run with and prepare your car based on those rules. 1972 is our cut off date on the west coast, so rules do seem to be quite different depending on where you are racing. BRE in 70 and 71 did not run fiberglass hoods on their Z cars.
  5. I hope to meet a bunch of you guys at the Mitty in 2010. It would be fantastic to see so many well turned out racecars at RA in April.
  6. Thanks All, I am a big guy in a little roadster. The seat is as low as I can get it in the car. so it is what it is. As for Omar (in the Alfa), he was all over the place and blocking like crazy...it was too bad for faster traffic behind him. We will see, I doubt he will be invited back next year. Ron
  7. This discussion revolves around an interview given by an older gentleman, and the patriarch of the DHM, who does not know about the car he is discussing. Fred knows a lot about US Datsun/Nissan history, but to have him comment on a current vehicle was a mistake, and now a very publicized one that has been beaten to death. The DHM is Fred's doing, and needs your support and not your critizism. Those of us on the BoD are working very hard to make it a great museum. If you have been there, you know that there are so many special items that you will not see anywhere else as this is the culmination of years of information. The life's work of several members of the board. As for the Nissan Datsun discussion. The DHM supports both Nissan and Datsun vehicles, there are several examples of both. Currently it's primary focus is 1933 to 1983 Datsun vehicles. However, there are a few examples of later model Nissan vehicles as well.
  8. Next Year, the Same weekend as MSA I will be in Atlanta at Road Atlanta for the Mitty, which is a vintage racing event. 2010 the featured marque is BRE and Lotus. I will be taking my BRE race car out to that event. Ron
  9. Thanks Andy, It was nice to meet you as well...Glad you had a solution to get your car back to Nor Cal, but sorry it did not make it down for JCCS. There is always next year. Your friends with the Celica were great, and I like their car. They need to really race it. There are very few vintage Toy's out racing with us, we need more of them out there. Glad you liked the video's, they are a unique perspective. There is nothing like the smell of 110 octane Leaded fuel...To me it means that it is time to go racing!! Take care. Ron

I have one of these signed by Mr. K. Still in its original plastic. I cut out a square out in the plastic for Mr. K to sign when he was here visting 10+ years ago. I figured one day I would build it as a copy of my car. However the right offer would take it off my hands, as ABC has come out with a RC version of my BRE replica and I have the current Diecast model of my Z too.
  11. I saw a couple of those videos being made, and Adam off camera is a very nice guy. We chatted at the races in Coronado, and discussed some of the cars out on the track. My impression is that Adam really had a great time. I am sure we will see more of him out at the track. Here is some additional stuff from Coronado: http://rcnetworksracing.wordpress.com/racing-2009/
  12. Yes the Alfa missed a shift, good eye Phillip Here is a write up of the event with additional photos: http://rcnetworksracing.wordpress.com/racing-2009/
  13. Here is the in car video from my race this last weekend at the Coronado Festival of Speed. We had a great race with Omar and his Alfa who wanted to block me more than race You will see Adam Carolla in his 610 gridded in front of me at the beginning of the race. Enjoy!! http://www.youtube.com/rcs240z

Michael thanks for your nice comment. I hope you can come down to Road Atlanta next April as we are going to make an east coast swing with our cars... Ron
  16. Yes, I am looking forward to the Mitty! should be lots of fun!!! There goes the neighborhood!
  17. The tail lights should be all red, I was able to buy a set of euro lenses for my tribute car before they got to be crazy stupid amounts of money. So that is what is on the car... I received my model from Japan about a week and a half ago. It is amazing all the effort that goes into building these models... It is really a treat to see this dream come true. Special thanks to Bill Bennett and Peter and Gayle Brock. www.Bre2.net http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/forums/forum18/viewMessage.asp?id=47240&start=47240 . .

Josh, I would suggest supporting vintage racing events, and looking a little deeper prior to making such a judgement. I list multiple in car video's with my cars and there is plenty of video to support that. If you are so inclined you can show up at the Mitty next year, I will have my BRE 240Z Tribute car there along with a number of very famous BRE cars. I assure you, that you will not be dissapointed.
  21. Cam, I am sure that will be fine.

i have spoken to Vinny a number of times. Bought some parts from him too. He's a good guy and good friend of Bob's.
  24. The condition of your car is up to you. When this was in Long Beach it was foggy and damp in the morning which means your car got wet no matter what and needed to be wiped down as it warmed up in the morning. I would suggest that you want your car in it's best condition, there are a number of trailer queens that make an appearance for this show. Bugs are optional.
  25. Hi Terry, Looking forward to it! Ron
