  1. Unless we have the wheels side by side ( which I have in the past by the way) you have no grounds to tell me that there is no difference between the two I have owned other than deterioration. Thanks for your help I am done.
  2. Again though, the one you have is like the one I had; with much higher quality rubber.
  3. So the real stitched leather covering I have seen on some wheels (OEM and aftermarket) was not done by Izumi? I guess it would be par for the course to call a foam rubber steering wheel "leather" since they are also calling a plastic one "wood".
  4. I think the steering wheel probably is an Izumi which is minus the leather cover as there is slight sun damage on the top of the foam. Gives me a real clear plan as to restoring it!
  5. Metal hatch grilles were available on some 510 wagons. I don't know WHICH years of 510 goon, but I do know that I pulled a pair myself a long time ago. Seems like one of those popular Nissan cost cutting measures from back in the day; "Hmm, these auto trim items are too expensive to produce made out of metal, we can do it cheaper from plastic!".....
  6. Thanks. I have owned an Izumi steering wheel before and it was foam rubber like the one I have now. The thing is the positvely identified Izumi foam rubber was much higher quality than the foam rubber which is on the wheel I have currently. There was no deterioration whatsoever to the denser Izumi foam and it remained attached to the substructure even with a few elapsed decades. The foam rubber on the one I have now looks and feels one exactly like a stock 260z or 280z steering wheel. The foam is not that dense and has come detached from the substructure at the top of the wheel as a result of sun exposure. I will not rule out Izumi though as the shape and description are very close.
  7. Exactly, and once the sticker is removed I have a generic steering wheel that might have been made in Pratt Falls, Iowa!!
  8. Hmm. Thanks. Probably better to leave it place however.
  9. I rescued this from a Series One 240z part out. In the original picture of it that the seller snapped, I mistakenly identified it as a 1600 Bluebird SSS steering wheel. Up close though the rim is not that plastic imitation wood, it is foam rubber like a 74-78 s-30 ZCAR. I think it is Nissan as it utilizes a 240z horn button mechanism. Anyone have any ideas?
  10. That's perfect. thanks gentlemen!
  11. Is there a 240z Harada semi-automatic radio antenna repair thread on this site? I seem to remember seeing one years ago but I cannot find it. And now I need to fix an antenna. Thanks, Daniel P.
  12. And finally..on eBAY, in the last 5 years I have sold two or three sets of these labelled exactly as I have described... ...and no one returned them because I was wrong....
  13. Nope. I stand on my assessment. Here are the Carpartsmanual part numbers. Here are the parts numbers for the parts as they appear on 240z body . 66 ASSY-GUIDE AIR INTAK 62590-E4101 1 67 ASSY-GUIDE AIR INTAK 62591-E4101 Here are the parts numbers as they appear in the 260z & 280z 2+2 body section. 61 ASSY-GUIDE AIR INTAK 62590-E4101 7607 1 62 ASSY-GUIDE AIR INTAK 62591-E4101 7408 1 62591-N4500 61 And 66 are for the right side of fresh air elbow which were standard in all ZCARs (coupe or 2+2) up until 7.76. 62 And 67 are for the left side which for the first number of 62 was up until 8.74. The second set of numbers in the second number of 62 has N45 in the part number which corresponds to Nissan internal identification for 2+2 vehicles. Having had a '76 280z there is no place to mount a left side fresh air elbow on a 280z as that is where the boot from the air cleaner to the air flow meter goes. This is true on all 280z's as they are all fuel injected. I have been pulling Datsun parts in salvage yards as a profession for close to a decade now and another decade before that for fun. It is in my best interest to nail parts applications down to the best of my ability because Nissan (Datsun) had alot of idiosyncrasies in the parts labelling and I do not like creating problems through misinformation.
  14. You are correct in calling these fresh air ducts however... ...the left side with the larger inlet is for all 11.73 - 11.74 260z 2+2's and 9.74- 11.74 260z coupes only. 280z's never had fresh air ducts on the left because that is where the rubber inlet boot for the front air cleaner to air flow meter was situated. I have pulled enough of these to have solved this bit of Datsun minutiae.
  15. I have heard of drivers making their own s-30 ZCAR steering couplers out of hockey pucks. Never seen one though...
  16. I hand fabricate these out of Delrin plastic. Contact me at dhp123166@yahoo.com for details. Thanks, Daniel P.
  17. John was a really good guy. R.I.P.
  18. I use rubber o-rings purchased in quantity from any hardware store. It saves me time and effort and they probably will last longer than foam material...
  19. This came off a Honda website. I don't have the horn button but it should be easy to adapt a 77-78 horn button. Thanks for all your help folks!
  20. Hot damn...now we're getting somewhere! HS30-H is the man when it comes to s-30 ZCAR knowledge! I am definitely going to research this further. And while I agree that it does LOOK modified , what pops into my mind is 'who would care enough about a relatively generic steering wheel to weld a horn button mechanism onto it'? Those welds do not look like a backyard welder did them either... Stay tuned!
  21. That's Series Two 240z steering wheel...
  22. Thanks Jim, that is the type of firmly knowledgeable info I am looking for!!!!!!
