  1. I would like to know if some of you guys have installed a GR-2 shocks all around with lowering springs installed? how is the ride? I am about to buy a set of shocks but I don't know which shocks are good. I found this set of GR-2 for cheap. Thanks
  2. Thanks... Yeah these are temporary needles. as im working on putting the needles from the stock. i may have to bore it out a little bit. and it will fit perfectly. as for the light, you can see it in the dark but if the lights where white color, it will be much brighter.
  3. and cannot afford to have the clock refurbished. It did not bother me at all. I went to the auto parts store and saw this desktop clock that looks like it's gonna fit on the non working Z clock. Test fit it and it worked. I used a double sided tape for the body to hold on to the frame Routed the wire for the 1.5v battery for replacement light still go through the side, so when you turn the dash lights, it still looks like a stock Z clock. The needle (seconds and hour hand) will fit directly to the desktop clock but the hole where the needle sits needs to enlarge a little bit. but i like this one.
  4. i bought a 280z a month ago and came with an origianl tan interior. The plastic panels are very dirty and was very difficult to remove the old dirt. What I did is I bought a Vinyl/Plastic Paint made by Duplicolor and painted all the tan plastic with the spray paint. so as the door panels and the back vinyl. Now, my interior look like brand new, except for the seat which is need for re upholster.
  5. I do have this problem too. But cannot determine how to fix it. It's annoying. I will be replacing all the rubber bushings and replace it with the polyurethane kits underneath and see if this will go away..
  6. Pioneers are really good brand and affordable for me. but this is just me. In my opinion, I say stick with the original stereo or buy a retro stereo to keep it's originality.
  7. im about to paint my Gold faded 280z into a black glossy paint. only the exterior. yes this is a big problem if you wanna sell the car because it is not the original paint anymore (not the original color). but if you wanna keep it like me forever, then that's fine. they charge me $1000 here in CA including fixing all the dents, filling all the holes from. removed the old exterior paint. and painting also the door jams and the hatch door. it's not a one day paint.
  8. just wondering if where can you get a fiberglass bumper instead of the chrome one? im not talking about the msa full front fiberglass bumper. i am planning of taking out my 280z bumpers and install a 240z one.
  9. I will try and go to autozone today and get a little bit bigger wire gauge for the starter. and so as the negative cable too. Hopefully the starter is ok.
  10. the cable insulator melted. im gonna bring it to autozone to test the starter. im thinking its because the wire gauge is too small for the starter? i have a 6 gauge positive wire that is hooked up.. thanks for the help
  11. When I got my 77 280Z about 2 months now, after a month of using, the starter (3 month old starter) doesn't turn over. Took it to Autozone and they said that the solenoid does not engaging. So I ended up buying a ReMan starter. After about month with the new starter, (which is last night). When I tried starting the car, it cranked for 1 second and all I can hear is clicking sound. So I checked the battery wires and felt that the + (positive) wire was very hot. Checked everything including connections to the battery to the starter. All good. Went back to car and try crank it again, no reaction, voltmeter gauge 0 volts. lost all electrical power and here comes a black smoke coming from the starter. + wire melted! Now I need a new one but before installing it " I just wanna know if only the starter is bad? or something that controls the starter needs to be replaced? I have no idea about the Z's so I dunno if it's just a starter problem or some other parts that makes the starter damage. Thanks for your help... Pat
  12. I may try this idea. The seller is located in Singapore. I don't wanna pay for return. Yeah they are way different. the teeth that moves the L shaped plate is broken and I don't think the locksmith can still fix it. I will take pics later on. All I can do now is I can still lock both doors but cannot unlock it. All I did is just unlock the hatch and crawl inside to open the door lock for now. .
  13. nope. i bought this before noticing that the stock ones look different. but the title says in ebay that this is for any 240 260 280z. i am thinking of cutting the L shape on the old one and weld it on the new one.
  14. sorry for the bad urls. Fixed. Thanks
  15. I bought these door locks a week ago. I recieved it today and removed the original door lock and realized that they are not the same. The original door lock, has an L shape compare to this new one. Is there any thread of how to modify this lock? Thanks Original Lock The one I got in Ebay....
  16. im sorry, what i mean is I will replace the alternator with an internal voltage regulator instead of having an external reg.
  17. ok thanks. I will probably take it to an electrical shop. I'll buy an internal reg for 300zx.
  18. i figured that out. i drove my other car today and tested 14.7 max while driving. So this means that whenever i drive and that voltage reading goes over 16.7v, the car is not charging?. I've read that the 77 Z has an external regulator? where is it located at? Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.
  19. this is measured in a voltmeter. i have a voltmeter and 3 led lights which tells if the car is charging or not. when the car is idling, all the led lights (green yellow and red) are on. it means it's normal, when all the lights etc are on, only 2 lights are on the red (bottom) and yellow (middle). and if I press the gas, the voltmeter says 16.7v and only one light is on which is red (not good).
  20. I dunno if if this is normal on the Z. I have a 77 280z. Everytime I start up the car and let it idle, the voltage reads around 13.5v which is I think normal. If I turn on all the lights, a/c, radio, while idling, it reads 12.4v. and if i rev the car up to 3000 rpm, it reads 16-17v. is this normal? or i have a bad voltage regulator? I am new to the datsun scene so I don't know if this is normal. thanks.
  21. I am new to the Z scene. What is this light for? What is it indicating? This thing only lights up for a few seconds when the car is starting. That's all. Thanks
  22. I am about to buy a Blaster 2 coil for my 77 280z and replace my old stock one. My question is, by replacing the old ignition coil and replacing it with the Blaster 2 coil (w/out the MSD 6A and will just use the stock one) will improve any spark? or it is still the same spark output as the stock coil? Thanks
  23. My Z is a 77. Thanks for the info. Won the bid for $30. At last, I can replace my stuck needle tach. no more sticking.
  24. I would like to know if all tach from 240z to '77 280 has the same wiring? or the same plug and play? I bought one in ebay today. This is the tach. let me know if these would work on the 280z.
