  1. Lets hope for some high values!

Has anyone tried flocking a 240z dash yet? The initial buy in might be higher, but it would be easier to do. The synthetic leather looks promising either way. I stole this pic from nasioc.
  3. I made mine by drilling a hole through a bolt with the proper threads for the bowl drain. I then shoved a nipple from a one man brake bleeder into it and ran the hose off of that. It works pretty well, but it doesnt make setting the float any less fiddly.

If you end up interested in an older kit, I have one similar to the one Jarvo2 posted above. It is just waiting to either be installed on my car or sold. Other than the condition of the box, it may as well be brand new. HOwever, I think it is for a 260z instead. I am guessing it could be made to work with a 240 without too much work.
  5. If you have any problems send me a message or something. I am certainly not a pro, but I would be happy to check it out. I am probably going to make it to the next blue grass z car meet as it isnt too far away. Too bad we just missed the June meet.
  6. I do all of my work so far. For the most part everything is pretty simple.
  7. Crap, I didnt even know about them. I am across the river in Jeffersonvile and will have to try to make it out to a meeting.

Last season they started broadcasting the full episodes. I think the new season starts up Monday night.
  9. Mautofied.com is a good place as well. Mini truckers check may be interested in it. I think it is still free on some ads. However, you will probaly get a lot of offers for trades.
  10. I have had a couple centerforce clutches and they weren't very heavy at all.
  11. For what it is worth, I was lean popping from the carbs and had jerky acceleration. Adjusting it a bit richer gave me some power back and got rid of the pop.
  12. The tube and mirror works fine for viewing the flame. You have to have the angle just right though. I haven't had much luck with my colortune. When it is set to the proper blue I lean pop. My rear cylinders I can't get quite right. I have good drivability and good gas mileage, but my rear plugs get crappy pretty quick.
  13. Where is the smoke actually coming from? I have a filtered vent on the front drivers side of the block that normally smokes a little. I dont think the filter on my valve cover smokes very often though.
  14. I had a similar problem this summer. My electric fuel pump quit working and acted as a restriction in the line. My mechanical pump wasn't working good enough to get fuel past it. I removed the electric pump and replaced the mechanical and all is well. Also if you have access to an air compressor it couldnt hurt to disconnect the fuel line at the tank and the filter and blow out the hard line.
  15. I was qouted 750-1200 for a 5th gear pop-out last year. The funny part is they wanted to hook my transmission up the the computer so they could tell what was wrong with it. Needless to say I didn't use them.
  16. Also, you could use a small relay in place of the ford starter solenoid. If you trigger the relay with a weak ignition it will still usually work.
  17. I driiled the hole out a very small amount and used an interior rivet.
  18. You can get a harbor freight transmission jack like the one in Zedyone's pic for pretty cheap. Especially if you get a 20% off coupon in the sunday paper. That puts it around $68. I have used the crap out of mine so far. This one drops pretty low so you don't have to have the car on extremely tall jack stands to get clearance. http://www.harborfreight.com/450-lb-capacity-transmission-jack-39178.html
  19. I have the same kit and haven't had any of these problems. My temp gauge gets to just a degree to the right past straight up. Your fans shouldn't be running on the highway. Mine only do if stopped in traffic for a short while. On occasion, mine will get closer to hot if the the car has been sitting a while. I think I have a rogue air bubble.
  20. Glad to know I am not the only one. I checked the rear end the other day after a half hour drive and it wasn't any warmer than I would expect it to be at least compared to non-noisy nissan and toyota truck rear ends. I don't beleive my tranny is adding to the noise at all as it is very quiet compared to my 4 speed with bad bearings I haven't had a chance to pull the cover, I only looked through the fill hole and it looked ok, but then that is a very limited view. Most of the bushings in the car have been replaced with urethane so maybe the mustache bar is passing a bit more sound through as well. Thanks for the input...I will take it off of my fix it now list.
  21. Not much too it other than drop the transmission, grease the seal and replace it. If you had a ton of miles on your tranny you could replace the input shaft seal, front paper gasket, and rear seal while you are at it. I thought my rear main was leaking, but it turned out to be the side seals so I got that knocked out too.
  22. I think mine has around 131k miles, that sucks that yours got louder after the swap!
  23. I know loud is very subjective, but I will try to make some sense of it. I have never ridden in another 240z so I don't have a good baseline to compare it against. For most of the summer I have been driving with my windows down so I never noticed the differential whining before. I am currently running a stock 3.54 R180 with an 83 280zx 5 speed. The front diff mount is fairly new and solid. The rubber stopper is in good shape as well. With the windows up and going 55 I can hear a slight whine from the rear end over the wind and exhaust noise. With the clutch in and engine idling it is quite obvious. It doesn't matter if I am maintaining pace or slowing down the noise is steady. While decelerating, the noise goes away at around 10mph. Under acceleration, I really can't hear it over the exhaust. I know that Z's are old and noisy anyways, but am curious if they should be that loud? We usually have a good supply of 240sx for rear end swaps if need be. I already replaced the fluid with Redline 75w90 and that didn't quiet it down much at all. It seems like most of the posts I searched in mention a howl or clunking. I wouldn't describe my noise as a howl of imminent failure.
  24. It won't be long until someone draws a wang on it!
  25. I keep mine in one of the compartments behind the seat. It might not be the quickest place to get to it, but it works.
