I don't think that there is any corelation here. My cousin ,in buffalo, NY, has a 96 or 97 neon that is completely stripped down. No A/C didn't originally have a radio, and his car doesn't have a HRW either. I think nowadays it's just a matter of trim levels and options. also every car I've ever bought in SC has had the HRW, even my 86 MR2 where the rear window was like 3 inches from my head! Nate

I know a chick that for some odd reason thinks that every "older" fastback is Ford Maverick?!? I think her older brother had one when she was growing up and it's embedded in her brain now. I remember walking in a mall parking in Western NY and she says, "oh look, a red Maverick" I almost had to slap the crap out her- It was a 260. You know, I always figured if you took the badges off a car you were embarrased of it. Heck, I repainted the badges on my '86 Sentra... I loved that little blue sentra! I wish I had never sold it.
  3. If I had to fathom a guess it would go like... Hardtop and Softtop are broad descriptions that encompass all the different variations of them. IE: a '64 Shelby Cobra with a removable Hardtop could be a Roadster/coupe/hardtop. But with a soft top would be Roadster/convertible/softtop. I think...maybe... ow! Mercedes is trying to bring back the def. of a coupe'. They have a 4 door CLS not yet availabe in the States... try this Link
  4. AWESOME!!! Glad to hear it! Good thing you didn't dump all that money into buy carby stuff. There's one rule we keep to as ET's in the CG is K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid. Yep, they teach us that in school... wonderful for building young egos, they call us stupid That's good news! Nate
  5. You know, on the topic of auto terms... a good friend of mine had a book of Automotive Industry Terms and what they mean and where they come from. A couple of the ones I recall are... GT cars (originally) should not have frames around the door windows. Therefore a Mustang GT hardtop should not be a GT. But now GT gets thrown on any sports car. Of course these terms and their defs. date back to when the auto industry was in it younger stages (30's 40's 50's). Another was Coupe, coming from the French word Coupe', and it's automotive translation basically meaning "chopped" and that if you had a four door with a low roof line then it could be considered a coupe. Interesting that we consider darn near any two a coupe nowadays. Look at cadillac with the Coupe de 'ville and sedan de 'ville 2 door and 4 door respectively. Nate
  6. The S800 makes a great looking little Roadster. Give me a Datsun 2000 anyday, though! Here's a Ragtop too... a '62 model. Nope, you've got it backward G72. "Cabriolet" is German or French or Italian (? can't recall?) for convertible. If you remember VW had the Rabbit Cabriolet which was a convertible and later when the Rabbit was renamed the Golf the convertible was just called the Cabriolet. Nate
  7. Let's use our automotive terms properly folks... Ragtops are where the center section of the roof slides back, more like a cloth sunroof (VW style baby!... although mini used them also) Convertibles (or cabriolets) are where the entire top folds back. Let's Motor
  8. I'm betting that he's right. I remember reading that Honda didn't start importing cars to the states untill '69. Up until then they only brought motorcycles over here. Also he even states that all the gauges are in metric. If ya'll or someone you know is remotely interested in this car let me know it can't be anymore than 20 mins from my doorstep. I know exactly where spring street is. You've gotta wonder how much he wants?

Damn, talk about dream garage! That '70 is immaculate! Very nice cars, now all you need is a Patrol or maybe even the '88 hardbody 4x4 special edition. Nate
  10. Have you met many Japanese named Carlos? the Datsun name was around before Nissan came to the U.S. And there was an article that came out after Carlos' little ordeal saying that Nissan officials were not pleased that he was driving something other than a Nissan. There's holes in your boat, set General Quartes and grab a plug n' patch kit.
  11. Yeah, but I don't think we'll ever see a Civic or Accord on the Auction Block at Barrett-Jackson. But hey, you never know! Plus I've never stuck my nose up to someone in a civic unless it had a four foot tall wing, clear tail lights and a 10 inch exhaust tip. Nate
  12. How true! She's now at her 3rd day at work after nearly a year off to concentrate on her studies. Which worked out pretty well -she maintained a 4.0. She bought it by allowing me to spend my money on it!
  13. Does a Z count as Z related? The wife gave me the "go-ahead" to get my dream Z. An orange 1972. Also got Craftsman Air Compressor, Bench Grinder, stand up Halogen Lights, new creeper, and a new set of drill bits all of which I'm sure will be used to benefit the Z. Also got the book Mr. K by Mike Taylor. Zanta ClauZ is my favorite! Nate
  14. Ahhh, always so confrontational... I'd prefer to buy a Japanese built product myself... Compare an 02 Maxima to an 04 Maxima, the materials were much nicer and the fit and finish was much tighter. Nate :beard: Dang Bill what kind of Monte do you get for $45K !!!
  15. The whole buy american thing kills me! My Frontier was built in Smyrna, Tennessee by American men and women. Meanwhile GM packs up and moves to Mexico, Ford is all over Canada, Chrysler is owned by the Germans. Too many misinformed people out there. If I was ol' Carlos I'd have a fleet of kick @$$ Nissans! Like the Skyline 400R
  16. Hey Tomo, When I lived in Buffalo, NY I passed by a Ford stamping plant nearly everyday and it was extremely rare to see something other than a Ford in the parking lot. They even used Ford tractors for snow removal. My neighbor worked there and said that cars other than Fords were constantly being vandalized in the parking lots. One night my wife and I came out of a movie theater in time to catch a couple of vandals placing a bumper sticker on the drivers door of a VW GTi that read "foriegn cars suck, buy American." Ahhh, good ol blue collar Buffalo. I was lucky enough never to have never been a victim, I drive a 4x4 Frontier and my wife has an Integra. Do ya'll recall an event a little while back when Carlos was in an accident, or was it just a high profile ticket, in his 911 and was chastised by the company for not having been in a Nissan. It just strikes me that there should be a certain degree of pride and support when in a postion like his. In the book about Mr. K, it's mentioned that one of the Japanese workers showed up in a Chevy and Mr. K flipped out on him. If you won't buy your product how can you expect anyone else to? IMO Nate

  19. thanks for the advice greg, i'll definetly ask for the top... damn, could you imagine if one up top was dripping brake fluid... I think I would have to kill for that. Nate
  20. Jared, Great book about mechanicals and a good bit on Carbs... As far as EFI goes there are a couple of pictures on Pages 8 and 9 of a custom system by Devendorf. And that's all that it is referenced. Take care and good luck Nate
  21. On the topic of money... Z Therapy (renound as the best bet) get's $595 for the SU's + $150 for the core charge unless you just happen to have a set of round tops kickin' around. Then you have to get the manifolds and the N42 cylinder head. What if the head needs some work? Valve job and what not. You also need a new gasket set, air cleaner(s) and probably a couple runs to the parts store and/or salvage yard for misc. bits and pieces. Don't forget setting up a choke to get the car crank without problems. Sounds like to me you'd be into the carb conversion for close to $1000. I haven't bought pieces for Z EFI's but I would think you could replace all the sensors on a primitive FI cheaper than that. And then there's always MPG...hmmm. Good Luck either way you go. Nate "Money & Time... NEVER enough."
  22. Hey David! Thanks for the lead on DAS. These guys have got a great price, I'm real close to one of their terminals. Now if I can just wrap up the purchase I can arrange the shipping. Thanks Again. Nate
  23. No FSM here, but I have a Haynes - not the authority by any means but, it doesn't list a seperate ring gap for the L28, the L24 & L26 both are .23 to .38mm. Does that help any? Nate
  24. Thanks Chris. I just sent in my quote request. Price will be a factor, but i'm looking for the best for the money not just the cheapest... this looks to be a good sort, he's definetlly been trusted with some seriously nice cars in the past... nice photo gallery on his web site. thanks again, Nate
  25. Hey Carl, what's-up? I tried earlier but experienced a little technical difficulty. blah blah server memory full yadda yadda yadda. Looks like I finally found one! I'm working out the details now. You'll be the first to know. Nate
