  1. those would look just as close to perfect as you can get on my silver Z!!!!
  2. Has anybody purchased a set of the new VTO LeMans wheels. I am very interested in these, as they are clones of the BRE racing wheel. I would love to see these on a Z before I sell my panasports...
  3. sounds Great Chase. I contacted the hotel today. We will see if they have any group rates, or if there is any car show package we can get.
  4. Thanks so much guys! I will be ordering parts today. Seems this is going to be a fun little project. I think I will finally get some service out of my transmission jack, which is about to do double duty as a gas tank jack. I am going to email courtesy to see what they have in stock for fuel lines. I really want to try to save all the OEMness of the car if possible. I will photograph everything I can to document it.
  5. Bravo steve! I am in the same boat. I want my wife to come, but I will need to find a sitter as well. My 3 year old is quite demanding. Keep plucking away. I figure we have until Nov Dec to get this done. I will contact the hotel this week to see what they have available.
  6. Well I have decided that the end of september/october will be my month to do this. I have printed out the FSM instructions, so I am basically committed.! Hhaha
  7. So right now, my list includes the following: Zedyone CW240Z Ben's Z d240zx2 tentative but the cards are stacked against: steve91tt I would add this to my first post, but for some reason, I cannot figure out how to edit a post. I know we use to be able to do that.
  8. correct. I have the service manuals, and I wonder how deep I have to go to fix this. I would wager that that evaporator tank is a part that is nearly impossible to get. We will see. Datsun spirit may have it or something. As usual, I plan to do a complete picture overhaul of this. May as well POR my tank while it is out. I can see this is going to get expensive.
  9. Okay, folks, in anticipation of this Texas rally I am sort of planning, I decided it would be wise to do some prep work on my old gal. One problem that has been annoying me is when I fill the car up say past half way, and I make a left turn, I get a strong raw fuel smell. This leads me to believe that my filler neck is leaking as when you turn left, fuel goes right naturally. Does this sound about right to everybody. Before I drop the tank, I may as well have a good idea what I am going to replace. And while I am there (there are those words that ALWAYS get me into trouble) I may as well fix anything else that requires some love. What things should I be looking for to fix this problem as well as are there any pitfalls or tricks to dropping the tank I have a feeling I may as well replace everything that carries fuel while I have the car up.
  10. Lets call it 280ZX and below. Again, I hate to come off as a snob. But their are tons of events where the newer cars get all the love. I just enjoy seeing classic and vintage cars more than newer ones...
  11. Here is a route called the 3 sisters. I find that anyplace that motorcyclists love to ride, is usually quite fun for a nice sports car.
  12. I keep digging around to try to find some great roads around the hotel. I will post them and we can decide on a club rally route in the coming weeks. http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/the3s.html http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthWest/TX/TX_3.shtml http://www.austinexplorer.com/Locations/ShowLocation.aspx?LocationID=1712 http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/7819
  13. Agreed. I am sure I will totally screw something up and forget to plan something or I will get lost and end up in some other state, but the more we try this the more we learn. I totally understand how hard it is to get off work for something like this, and lets face it money is not just falling off trees for most of us. Frank, I have no posted on there, as I wanted to keep it to CLASSIC Z's. I do not mean to come across as a snob but I find a younger crowd usually drives the new Z's and they tend to be the ones who do burnouts and get us all thrown out. I would not mind inviting a few british car clubs to join us. A few classic Triumpsh or MG's would make this more colorful. I would entertain the idea of putting this off until spring, but there are so many events during that time and they are quality events. LIke the Bluebonnet run. I would hate to make somebody miss that. Keeping this in Nov/Dec, should mean cooler weather, but not too cold. THis is Texas we are talking about. I like those guys in the Houston Z club. They have opened their arms to me. I think I may have to take a chance and invite them. They have some stand up folks in that club. Just like Frank! I am not to big into facebook Frank. I barely even use it. If you would like to post a link to it you are welcome. Or send me a link to their site and I will post a link to their facebook. I guess you can do that. Again, I just do not have the time for mybook or facepage usually.
  14. Well I will keep updates coming. I will start making decisions and firming up decisions in the next few weeks. I welcome any inputs.
  15. Great work Arne! What an experience. I installed a resonator midway up my 240Z when I put on my ANSA. It sticks out about as far as yours does. I think it looks perfect!
  16. congrats, it is so good to have rolling works of art like your little British beauty gracing our roads!
  17. Okay, I have been toying with this idea in another thread for a while now and I have some ideas floating around. Since I am not aware of any regional forums I am putting this here. I am trying to organize a classic car getaway in the hill and wine country of Texas. Think Fredericksburg. A few things to note about this. This IS a family friendly event. Spouses are welcome and encouraged. This IS an event where classic car lovers get together to to share stories, and just hang out. This IS NOT a competitive timed event. NO stage or sector times. This IS NOT an event where every second of every day is mapped out for you. My outline is this so far. This will take place in November/December time frame THIS YEAR. I am thinking of picking a 'staging location' that has the following characteristics: Bed and Breakfast, or moderately priced hotel (think between 100-200/night) Large well lit parking lot to keep classic cars safe and to park trailers for those coming a long way. Great scenic drives with interesting destinations within 30 min to an hour away. Good food and entertainment close by to gather and talk about that days escapades. Decent shopping near by for those who want to pick up an item or two Away from a congested part of a large city where directions and parking can really be bad and/or confusing. Close to a reputable garage or mechanic where repairs can be made Close to a reputable parts house. (NAPA, Car Quest, Autozone, etc) I have been thinking the hill country somewhere outside of Austin at first, but now I am leaning toward the Frederiskburg, TX. It checks more of the boxes. My plan is to make this a 3 day, 2 night affair. One cruise route will be organized per day, and it will be voluntary of course. The rest of the time people can go as they please and see sights as they wish. Folks can pair up with their friends or not. Think Casual. I am hoping to get enough attendance that a makeshift carshow can happen one evening. Probably the second night. Possible locations are places like: http://www.hangarhotel.com/index.html This looks like a fun place which is car AND car show friendly. It has nice accommodations and seems very friendly and interesting. I love old airplanes so this is good for me. I will begin a tentative list of attendees here. Zedyone_kenobi Please PM me if you are interested in this.

Okay, update... I think the Austin Area has limited appeal. Basically, I am trying to put this in a place that has great roads as well as great things to do. Also important is great food, and calm places to hang out. I want it out of the way of congestion, but close enough to parts places and civilization in case we need it. would you guys be interested in making the central location Fredricksburg, TX. Hill and Wine country. Great drives, and great food and drink. Great shopping for those who want to bring their significant other. This is gaining in momentum at the Zedyone household. So I am about to start a thread about this soon.
  19. Those large sidewalls look amazing! Very 70's vintage Racer. I did not know rewinds came in -9
  20. 15x7 Panasports FS15E (no idea what offset, it is not stamped into them) Bridgestone 960AS 195/60/15 tokiko springs and struts

welcome home soldier! As a former military kid whose dad was always stationed away. It is good to have you back on our shores. HOpe your Z make those days spent over there fade away. I am still planning this guys... MY latest idea is to rent a uhaul to bring my car up there on a car carrier. Why you ask? Well with all these Z's there is bound to be somebody whose cars has an issue. Small or big. If I rent a truck we can leave it at the B&B and use it as a rescue vehicle so we do not have to rely on Cleatus and his ilk to come by and ruin a great Z car. Does anybody else think this is a good idea?

THis will be on public roads, so I think it will be governed as to how fast we will be going. Think sight seeing rally and fun driving rally, not competition rally. That is a whole other ball of complicated to plan out. I will keep working and we will get this going.

Well guys, I have scoured the internet and found a few road rallies done by some Subaru friends of mine around Austin. It is a bunch of roads set up around a large lake. they have routes mapped out and distances, that cover some beautiful hill country with great twisties. I was thinking of a B&B along the lake and then make a weekend of it driving around, eating good food, and draining a few beers. I will try to post a link of the map... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Spicewood+Springs+Rd&daddr=Spicewood+Springs+Rd+to:N+Capital+of+Texas+Hwy+to:FM-2222%2FRanch+Rd+2222%2FRM-2222+to:N+FM-620%2FRanch+Rd+620+N%2FRM-620+N+to:Lime+Creek+Rd+to:Lime+Creek+Rd+to:Bullick+Hollow+Rd+to:N+FM-620%2FRanch+Rd+620+N%2FRM-620+N+to:Ranch+Rd+620+S%2FRM-620+S+to:Bee+Cave+Rd%2FRM-2244+to:Westlake+Dr+to:Westlake+Dr+to:Cedar+St+to:FM-2222%2FRanch+Rd+2222%2FRM-2222+to:Mount+Bonnell+Rd+to:30.337917,-97.776089+to:Northland+Dr%2FRM-2222&geocode=FQlj0AEddCQs-g%3BFcAT0AEd4sor-g%3BFQiazwEd0iAs-g%3BFTHszwEdpN4q-g%3BFTy10AEdmkor-g%3BFUg00QEdBbQq-g%3BFc3G0AEdquwp-g%3BFbR30AEd-pEq-g%3BFWvHzwEd2qAq-g%3BFYB4zgEd8Hgp-g%3BFQJHzgEdfEAr-g%3BFe0PzgEdco8r-g%3BFfmSzgEdpv4r-g%3BFZD7zgEdwo4r-g%3BFYz4zgEdIgMs-g%3BFTipzgEdMhss-g%3B%3BFajmzgEdoFws-g&hl=en&gl=us&mra=dpe&mrcr=14&mrsp=16&sz=13&via=1,16&sll=30.337028,-97.746735&sspn=0.070522,0.153809&ie=UTF8&ll=30.427213,-97.78553&spn=0.070457,0.153809&z=13&iwloc=11966271423292923766
  25. Well okay, seems I should leave it alone then.. Like I said, the car drives beautifully, and around the track it felt fantastic. NO complaints. As for what percent tint I have Oiluj, I am not sure. They were tinted when I got it, but I want to get it done over on the side windows. NO way I am puling the tint off my rear defroster while it is still working...It is rather dark though. When I do it again, I will probably go far less extreme.
