  1. The first pic is 6:00 the second was 9:00- not bad for hand tools. Its ready to come out when the engine hoist comes in the morning. I wont have the header untill at least Monday, so the install will take a while but I'll update as we progress.

So we are under a stage 1 evacuation alert due to a 6000 acre forest fire burning less than a mile from my home. This got me to thinking about how much Z stuff is enough. What I mean to say is how much of the spares should I get out.. extra carbs.. glass.. interior bits and the such. I have so much of this stuff and trully wonder how much of it is really worth having around. Maybe I will get rid of something so the next day I will need it for sure!:stupid: I wish I had all the answers... I guess for now I'll concentrate on the guns and dogs, get the Z to a friends house, pack clothes and pray for the best.

I would want whatever Z I could get my hands on... I have been consumed for hours looking at rusted heaps that havent a chance of ever seeing a road again... but you find all sorts of neat things... Early Z's with T-tops was kinda neat, and I have even seen one converted into a pick-up with rust all the way round.. still very intresting to view.

WOW! Would you folks mind if I publish this..... it makes for some terrific reading. I dont need to borrow my wifes Cosmo for drama any more. Man I wish I could have photocopied the page from an English book of "super" sports cars where the text actually gave credit for the design of the Z to A. Ghortz or whatever you call him. Man I am sure it too could have rang up a few notches on the richter scale... but alas fro now I will continue to re-read this over and over for no other reason than it's entertainment value. Thanks folks

I am throwing a party at my home in Stevensville Montana on Saturday September 12, in honor of Mr. K's contribution to the motoring public.. We will have a chilli feed (mild and spicy). Please give me a call if you would like to attend.. My wife needs to know how much to make! We will have about 15 to 20 local cars here and I have room in the yard for lots more! Give me a buzz if this sounds appealing to you or just happen to be passing through... all are welcome. Kirk 406-546-4201

I have always thought those would look so good on a Z with the Vella-Rosa body kit (aka) Ferrari 250 GTO.

Dont you just love history lessons!!
  8. Looks like just us Dave.... . Oh well, more BBQ for us!!!
  9. Just want to say thanks as usual...Only the best of the best must must own z's!
  10. So here I am with my family in Seattle and I was "forced" into bringing the Z all the way from Montana... I would love to get together with some folks from around here but do not know anybody local. I see there is a show and shine on the 9th at the Everet Nissan dealership.. I will definately attend. Any thoughts to good drives would help... I have already made the trip from downtown to Carnation and over to North Bend.. that was kinda fun. Any other routs would help as we have nothin to do but wait here for the next month.. its gettin pretty borring. Thanks as usual folks. Kirk

In the early 80's Charlie Sheen made a movie about being a Porsche thief, called (No Mans Land). There are several Z's in varying shots around the L.A. area as "they" the thieves are out and about. And to boot you get to see Brad Pitt as an extra.. he plays the roll of a waiter and he has a mulet...
  12. My Z wants to ping a little at lower RPM's with lower octane fuels... I try to fill with 91 or better since it only costs about $1 more to fill with premium.

Cant wait to see pics... What kind of condition and most important.... RUST? Inquiring minds want to know. Good score all the same.
  14. I just got back from my test drive, after installing Toyota 4X4 brakes with Napa premium pads and WOW... everyone should really consider this upgrade. I would rate this as important as Tokico struts... from a performance point of view "In my opinion". These things have so much more stopping power and better feel for impending lock up.. I can now rotate through the apex of a corner without having to trail brake so far past my turn in point that I over shoot apexes by feet. I'm now down to inches.... This really does work well and the insall only took 1 1/2 hours.
  15. Regret to say we will not make it this year... Too many electrical bugs to work out and the lack of playdough mean we have to sit this one out. Always next year!! I will go for a short cruise however just to hold back the tears.
  16. Moose Drool is a local flavor here... I still prefer Guinness to all others however.
  17. He is the self proclaimed electrical gennius... forgive me... this post was made after a pint of crown royal .... This is what happens when your trying really hard to find the cause of your no start condition!!!
  18. I have a new update to this thread... Im more confused than ever, which means I can now be clasified as "incompetent". I think my problem is in the ( Ignition Interlock Unit). I have replaced and cleaned and replaced and cleaned and on and on... NO LUCK! Anyone own an "Ignition Interlock checker"... Im not kidding, there is actually a component for this in the factory repair manual. I think I will try unpluging the seat switches after INDY and see what happens... wish me luck.
  19. I knew I could count on you to have a good sense of humor. It's the reason I mingle with the likes of this bramble. Thanks for the input as well folks... I think he is going to begin a restoration of the car shortly. It trully is in good shape... I looked pretty hard to find any rust today and I cant find ANY in the usual places. A real good spot to start from. Most of the rubber is in less than useable condition... we broke the boot between the MAF and plenumn today, trying to replace the leaking vaccum lines. Another call to MSA tomarrow. But its all good.. he now has an official hobby, And best of all he's happy.
  20. The pictures are doing the car alot more to the good than in the flesh... heavy oxidation and cracks, peeling and the such. It needs a repaint. It actually runs and drives very well. All of the original parts were on the car at one time. The mirror holes are in the passenger side door, just that the mirrors themselves are in a box. He is the original owner and just saw my car in front of my house and got the bug to get his going again. I didnt realize what it was at first untill he washed and polished it. Could you imagine my supprize.... jaw drop.. I'm in MONTANA. There are like 15 of these cars around here and one just happens to be a Black Pearl! Really exciting stuff. Here are some more pics. By the way he is an old timer.. (like GEEZER) he's 71.
  21. Yes he has the factory mirrors as well. They are in a box.. I dont know why he used the big ugly mirror. I kinda like the look of the factory mirrors myself. JMO.
  22. Crap forgot to add.. this car comes with the SAP... original window sticker shows extra cost option. It was repainted by the dealer in 81 and stripes were not put back on.
  23. Ya I would use NADA... but this is a BLACK PEARL... LIMITED EDITION... only like 1500 produced.. and have never seen one sold.. the market here in western Montana is kinda not in line with the rest of the country.. it has to say bow tie or blue oval to actually count as a car here! He surely isnt going to sell it... I dont think but he would like to insure it for something close to replacement value.
  24. OK... so my friend has a diamond in his garage... whats it worth... can you believe this car sat in a garage for 20 years? 90K on the ODO.. He cleaned the tank and new injectors... fired up and it drives. So what is the market for something like this... it is all original and those are tru-spoke wheels. Help would be appreciated as usual.

I bought mine a little over a year ago and paid $2400.00 for it in pretty good condition. Mine is the early 74 with thin bumpers.
