Found in a pile of old books
I was digging in a box of old books at home and found this. It is 62 pages long, printed in 1979. Is this a common book?

Where to cut out a Floor Pan?
Kurt: as you are tring to cut a good floor board out of a bad car, I would cut it above the seams on both sides, as high up the front as possible(at least 4" above the bend) and all the way back past the back seat suppports. The more good metal you save the more usable it will be for someone else. Dan

Does anyone know if this product has any merit or is it more snake oil? http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443292139&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396672466&bmUID=1200013858578&deptid=1408474396672395&ctgrid=1408474396672402&subctgrid=1408474396672466

Parts car stripped
The story from the PO is that his father-in law rebuilt it around 15 years ago and his son (brother-in law) talked his dad into letting him drive it home from the painters. He then wrapped it around a bridge railing. It was/is very bent up and the rebuilt was mostly bondo and fiberglass anyway. Both 1/4 panels are just bondo and the metal is completly rusted away. The same goes for the rockers and floorboards. It has been sitting in a barn since then. It came with the car I bought.

Canadian Z's whats their history?
Bought my first one a 71 240z in 83, drove it year round for two years. Decided to fix it up, bought a 72 parts car. Found too much frame damage on the 71. Stripped it and sent the scrap yard. Have had the parts and the 72 sitting around ever since. decided to try again about a month ago. Bought a 73 240z in Lethbrige and it came with a 71 parts car. Will have the parts car stripped out by tomorrow and can start rebuilding the 73. All four cars are Alberta cars so lots of rust. Dan

New guy from Vancouver, BC
Welcome, Chris. You are correct when you say you have found a lot of useful information here. I thought I knew a bit about the 240Z, but after viewing the forums here over the last few weeks I am humbled by the knowledge of the members of this club. As well I agree with Bigoak "Nice to have another Canuck aboard. Nice looking ride." Dan

weathershields sunroof
Mike: thanks for the input, so it looks like I can keep the sunroof as long as I never go over 70 mph . I do like the look and it is in very good shape. I think I will leave it as is. I am going to keep the roof from my parts car just in case though. Dan

weathershields sunroof
Here are a few pics of the sunroof. if anyone knows how well this type works, please let me know. The car is not running and I am going to do a full rebuild on the car, so if I need to cut off the roof and replace it with another one I will do that. Thanks Dan

weathershields sunroof
I have brought home a 73 240z and it has a Weathershield sunroof. This type of sunroof is a folding type with a vinyl outer skin and a leather inner. I kind of like the look, but am worried as to how well it will keep out the wind, noise and water. any opinions are a great help. Dan

26th-Z I have a 1979 Datsun Factory Competition Parts book and it lists the Slalom Cam 99996-E1031 as a .475" lift/275 Degree duration. As well it shows a Racing Cam 99996-E1052 .595/306 and a Racing Cam 99996-E1053 .530/306. in this book it lists three IECO Racing cams .420/250, .450/270 and .480/284. BTW the 1979 list prices for these cams where $54.95,$59.95 & $64.95.

New to the site
Hi to everyone, I have had HLS30-88909 sitting the back yard under a tarp for the past 15 years waiting for me to restore it. Before that I owned HLS30-34475, but alas after pealing back the paint and bondo there was too much rust and bad repairs on serious frame damage that it was sent to the wreckers. I am a couple of years away from giving up on the work thing and have put my Z as the number one project when that time comes. This site has been awsome for me to gather information for the project.
