  1. By vice I mean "a moral weakness." Vices get you to do things you don't really need to do, like a $50,000 car when an $18,000 one will do. When people let vanity, greed and fear control their actions, it's bad, IMO, because you take from one place to the other to satisfy the vice. FWIW
  2. You're probably right Carl, but I thougtht I'd stick to what I know "for sure."
  3. Hang on to the bumper, if it's the small one. You could get some fast cash for it.
  4. Those are your typical American vices: 1- Vanity 2- Greed 3- Fear In that order. "Americans" do everything for one or more of those reasons. (Vanity) "I DESERVE a $50,000 car because I have a good job, and I'll look great." (Greed) "Look at my $50,000 car. It's great." (Fear) if I don't have a $50,000 car, people will think I'm a loser." Even people who drive a Zed do it: (Vanity) "I love my cool Zed with the rust spot and the worn seats." (Greed) "I want a Zed with the carbs and the 150 hp L24." (Fear) "I want to get a Zed before they're all rusted apart or cost $50,000!"
  5. Put a glob on a scrap piece to see when it gets hard. Depending on how you mixed it, it should be a few hours before you can BRIEFLY try the engine. It takes overnight to harden completely (like an epoxy). J.B. weld should be available in autoparts/hardware/D.I.Y. stores, et al.
  6. Exactly. If supply & demand determine the price of things, then low demand means low price.
  7. You might try to plug the hole with some J.B.Weld. It's a cheap & easy way to know for sure if it was the problem.
  8. Never heard of a "Datsun" so why should I buy one?

Not me! Not at all. I'm surprised he has just about everything in there, but a BBQ grille & Foosball table, or does he?

YPu're missing a 4000 CFM fan to take the exhaust fumes out when you work in the cold. Where did you say you're located?
  11. If you have e.f.i., it sounds like the AFM isn't working right. Sounds like it's running really rich. Check the exhaust smell, looks.
  12. Zhome.com has a good section on adjusting the carbs. They have a video too.
  13. Somebody mentioned higher wattage 194 bulbs. Can you really get them, and what would the number be? thx
  14. Is that like the riding mower with the blown 455 chevy engine on it (in it?) ?? On the other hand, did you ever see the 'mower races' where they get a Cub Cadet to go about 60 MPH? thx
  15. I thought you use H4 lights for the headlights?
  16. that would be something if my lawnmower had that kind of power, huh?
  17. How much coolant do you let out when you change the thermostat? I think it's about a gallon (3 qts.) And where does it come out? I think my radiator has a valve on the bottom tank. I should probably replace my thermotime switch. thx
  18. That's why I have a fuel-efficient Ford Escort that gets 30+ MPG for those LONG trips where the fuel depots are 100 miles apart!
  19. Before you start tinkering yourself, don't you think it would be a good idea to make surethat all the consumable or replaceable stuff is either replaced, checked or cleaned? I mean like, new air filter, oil change & filter, a GOOD coil, spark plugs & wires. I even had my L28 engine decarbonized, which seemed to help some. I think next, I would want to remove the AFM (or carburettors) and either carefully clean them or rebuild, then the same to the other stuff, then finally the wiring, if possible. FWIW
  20. I'm getting about 20 average, ranging from 20 - 23 so far. No emmissions stuff (L28 with e.f.i "doesn't need emmissions stuff"). I took off the EGR last summer and I'm going to fix up what's left to look nicer and work better. FWIW
  21. Sorry to tell you, but, There's no easy or direct answer to your question, except, "Check everything." I have a 78 280Z with the e.f.i, and the Nissan dealer guy said mine is rich too. You can check/service/replace the AFM, the thermotime switch, even the wiring. "Original" doesn't really mean anything good, except it has all the parts that it had when new. Most of those parts are now old and maybe even worn out or the performance has degraded. That means you'll have to fudge things someplace, if just replacing some simple things doesn't help, like the thermotime switch. I think the best thing we can do is to replace the wiring, but you can't get those either.
  22. Do they have, like PAVED roads in China?? I mean the kind you can gto 200 MPH on? thx
  23. I kind of like having a separate switch for the headlight, considering how much current is going through the switch contacts. I think it would even look cool to have one of those 'protected switches with the flip-up covers. Anybody got a link for those protected switches(safety switches)? thx
  24. Good point(s) Mike- In trickle-charger circuits, we sometimes use small incandescent bulbs to limit the current, so in essense the bulb is working like a resistor or a high-resistance wire, which is what most of us deal with.
  25. I don't have ANY idea where you could go 200 MPH, except in an airplane, and the German Autobahn doesn't go to too many cities.
