  1. The batteries on my 35mm cameras would last for weeks. It's only needed to power the exposure meter, so they last a really long time. The worsat thing about the chespr digitals is the wait to focus, and the lag after you press the picture button. If you'retrying to do movement, you either have to be lucky with the timing or pan the shot and hope it's not too blurred.
  2. After reading the introductory article in the link above, click on the "Related photos" near the top for some more lessons, especially stuff like not having a pole stuck in your roof or a bush growing out of your hood! There's more to photography than a fancy camera or clicking off photos.
  3. I did sports photography for the school paper in high school. There is no way any digital camera could focus fast enough to get a shot of something in a softball game or a track meet. In fact, I usually pre-focused my lens to a spot I picked and waited for the right shot to happen. I've tried some of the SLRs and they didn't focus fast enough for me. Since the 35mm always on, I don't have to wait for anything but the right shot, and the battery doesn't run down. About the biggest reason I have a digital camera is because I can put 400 photos on it without loading in film. BTW,the link in #10 has expired, so you might want to trty this: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/howto/11678_photograph_your_car/index.html
  4. If you are referring to the International convention, then there is a photographer(s). BTW, when you say 'great shots' on a digital camera, you mean ones that are properly fucussed and exposed. The content may not be great. Some people have no idea about things like composition, movement, colour (or lack of) contrast, shadows, and all the other stuff. thxZ
  5. I photographed airplanes in high school & college. Peoplethought I was weird, standing on top of a 12-foot stepladder to get the higher-angle shots. But after taking a couple dozen shots of one airplane, I picked the one that makes people stop and look. Sometimes I'd sit or lay on the ground to get a low-angle shot (especially lowered cars) and you can make the car look 90 feet long that way! That's why I can appreciate some of the pictures that people used to use for their avatars here; like one of a headlight. Don't you just hate it when people buy those $400 nikon SLR digital cameras with 99 Megapixels to just take basic shots on the front quarter, then they show you and say "isn't that a great shot You could probably do better with a a from the camera from the closeout store. Thanks, Chris for bringing this up. thxZ
  6. The car is so simple. Soimpe lines. Simple features inside & out. It is overkill to do anything more than large blocks of color following the bodylines. In a way, the rear window defroster lines seems to be too complicated for the car. Fortunately, you don't spend time focussing on them.
  7. I just had my car on a lift to check the fuel pump strainer. I should've had my camera to get pics of the pump & damper for ya. :stupid: I'll get you pix of the other things first.

  9. If you were to buy another fuel tank, it may not be in new condition, so to do the job right, any used tank should be renewed before installing. Otherwise, you'll be removing it in the futurwe for the same reason as the old one. So either way, the overall cost seems to be about the same, unless some big cost-cutting can be done.
  10. You should first see if it would be worthwhile to restore or repair the current one. This place can do it: http://gastankrenu.com/loc/tx.htm
  11. I found the missing piece, and now I can reassemble the lamp. No need for a new part now. thxZ
  12. You can see if it's the switch by unplugging the connector that's under the steering column, since it goes to the switch. It the lights still stay on, then there must be a problem elsewhere.
  13. Has anyone seen thye movie yet? thxZ
  14. The bulb holder for my map light ( on a 2180Z) broke. Is there a substitute you could use, or does it need to be from a Z map lamp? thx
  15. One complete BMW fuel injection harness was enough for me. It had enough connectors to do several Z engines. Inly 25 bux from vinesauto (www.vinesauto.com)
  16. I got a whole fuel injection harness from a BMW, and it had several connectors on it to fit the TPS. All the connectors were the quick-release type. The color of the connectors even matched the corresponding injector or the sensor
  17. I had a problem with mine the other day. After I got some gas in, it wouldn't start, until I let it sit for a couple minutes ( while checking the connections.) It started up and is fine so far, but I'm going to look over the sensor connections again. BTW- I put on all new connectors over the winter, except for the TPS one, but I'll get to that soon.
  18. On the 280Z with EFI, there's no need to pump the gas when starting. Pumping will do nothing unless you have carbs with accelerator pumps. I know that disconnecting an injector will make the engine run rough, so have you checked or cleaned up the connections to the injectors?
  19. You nitially said that the e-brake cable assembly failed, so if the cable gets loose in any way, the e-brakes shouldn't engage. The e-brakes require tension via the cable to engage.
  20. The parking brakes aren't supposed to engage unless you pull the brake handle. If the cable breaks, you shouldn't have anything happen, so how did the parking brakes engage?
  21. I didn't know a 280Z could have cruise control...
  22. I was talking about both sets of fusible links; initially the ones for the EFI, and then the ones for the rest of the car. I didn't mind tht hijacks, a they were related, and so we got two sets of answers.
  23. After all the reading I did on this subject, I concluded that thanks to MSA I have only ONE of the four fuse links correct. MSA has the colors backward, saying I needed 3 black & 1 red. Fortunately the car worked anyway. So now I have some extra black ones, after I get more red ones. thxZ
  24. Click on this link and read the npage, then you will know. *end some time reading more on the subject at the same place, too.. thxZ
  25. The relays used in newer cars won't work on the older Zs. You need to get the specific one from a Z car supplier like MSA (www.motorsportauto.com) or Black Dragon (www.blackdragonauto.com), or even rockAuto (www.Rockauto.com)
