  1. Thanks for the info. I know that I should have posted this in some other area than technical articles but I saw this subject I thought I'd jump in. Thanks Again, Mark
  2. I'm a little dense. I am currently putting a 4 speed from a 72 z in my 73 that had an automatic tranny. Will I have to change the speedometer drive pinion to correct for this? Thanks, Mark

I like it!!! I hope my 73 looks as nice someday. :)
  4. I'm putting a 71 engine w/ SU's into it. If the electric fuel pump is not working can I disconect or bypass it? Mark
  5. Is there an electric fuel pump in a 73 besides the mechanical one? I think chiltons says there isn't but I've seen posts saying there is. My car seemed like it was getting fuel but then it would die and be hard to start. I wonder if that was part of the problem( I changed the fuel filter up front). The car had old gass in it that I drained. I would look at it but it is in the shop getting a tranny swap. Thanks again for any help you can give! Mark
  6. Thanks for the info on the 4 speed. I'm in the pittsburgh area so i think i'll look around here for a 5 speed. Does the 5 speed shifter line up in the same hole in the tunnel? Mark
  7. Thanks kmack! That is another great link. Mark
  8. Thanks for the link and the advice! It looks like it will be helpful. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before I get started. Mark
  9. After I get done with the mechanical issues on my 240z I am going to paint it. I have painted a couple of cars years ago and i was wondering if anyone knows of any sites or books where I can get some current tips on painting and kinds of paint. Thanks, Mark

Try pegasusautoracing.com . I saw one similar to it in a catalog that they sent me. It went for about $36.00 Mark
  11. Its on zcarparts.com in the tech tip section. I might want to get rid of the MSA floor boards if I don't need them. I'll let you know. Mark
  12. Thanks - for some reason I didn't think of just getting the holes themselves patched. I saw on MSA's site the approx time involved to weld in the floor boards and started to sweat a little. Mark
  13. I have a 73 240 with some holes in the floor boards . The car came with a set of floor boards from I think MSA. I plan on auto crossing with this car. My question is will the floorboard repair kit from POR give the frame enough strength , or should I spend the bucks and have someone cut out the old ones and weld in the new floorboards. The floorboards have a couple small holes driver side and 1 small hole passenger side. I'd like to save a couple dollars and do the POR myself, but if getting someone to weld in the new ones is the right thing to do then I'll go that way. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated or does anyone have expieriance with the POR repair kit? Many Thanks!!! Mark
  14. I forgot to mention that the 71 engine and tranny are in a complete parts car, so i "should?" have everything that i need. what i need to know is there anything special that needs to be done to fit the clutch stuff in the 73 and if the wiring is going to be the same. i am mechanicaly inclined but i am not a mechanic and i don't want to get in over my head. Thanks again!!
  15. I have a 73 240 w/auto tranny and I want to put an engine and manual tranny into it from a 71 240. Will the clutch slave and master cylinders just bolt in or is there some cutting and drilling to be done? I've never done anything like this before but I've been waiting a month for someone to do it. Also will the shifter mount cleanly in the same spot as the auto and which drive shaft to use? Any help is really appreciated! Thanks!
