  1. Crap, got the same problem now with my daily driver 280z and the rebuilt engine only has 700 miles on it. New head too. Started seeping under number 3 and 4 spark plugs then out to the others. No oil in water or oil burning so put in some Silver Seal in the colant couple days ago. Waiting to see if it holds up. Getting the head retorqued this weekend during the value adjustment.
  2. Just got my brakes ordered from Les Schab tires ( a big chain on the west coast anyway), turns out all I need is front calipers and I got the last the last set in the company. Thye got 1 drivers side and 2 right sides ! Anyhow the dude who works there used a hubcap puller to get the aluminum drum off the drivers side and slightly bent the "backing plate", I guess it's called, and when I drove off I heard just what you were talking about and turned around to have them see what it was. First thing that came to mind was your description as the sound came on around 15 to 20 miles then died off around 50 and up only because it was going so fast. Pried it back into shape with the hubcap puller in a hot secound and off I went good as new. If you ain't found the source this might be what your hearing Let us know if you found what ever it is. ~Z~
  3. Will I agree, BJ ain't the place for one so #13 ain't gonna get what it's woth from there. Point number two. The only folks who even know about it in the first place is hard core club enthusiast like us here and on HybridZ. Point 3. The real money in my oppinion is in engine mods and Concours cars and well cared for rust free bodies, lets face it, mechanicly these are cheap to get back on the road. Now Mod'ed up, Turn Keys (read rust free bodies for sure), and well cared for originals will bring premiums in a otherwise flooded "club member market" for the S30 Z. Those who nothing about these cars or even bothered do minor researce before buying what they see on Craigslist or Ebay will allways be tire kickers. For example trying to my rust free '78 was liek pulling my on teeth will my hatch tools till I sold it for $900 even, I had guys email afterwards saying they would've paid at least $3,000 for it and I was only asking $2,500 in the begging. Heck a whole new engine for it was only costing 2,000 for me had I kept it ! Now I know I'm late to the show here but I guessed the Z at BJ would hit 15 to 20K as well and glad to see it got $16,500. After all it wasn't a rotisery restoration for crying out loud and it was simply a pretty looking used car with 74,000 miles on an unrebuilt engine I guess. Now as for #13's value it should bring at least as much, if you figure it is worth itn or not, dough as a Works Rally Car IMO. I know it's not the very first Z made of all the markets but the first US one "VIN wise" is pretty cool in my book. ~Z~

Order a new aluminum radiator from MSA and electric fan he you can afford it too. THEY WORK GREAT, direct bolt in and hold 180 to 200 degres all day long, i have the fan set to come on at180. And the drains are on the sides not the middle. The trans mount might be a safer buy from Courtesy or MSA.
  5. i'll take it yo . Don't need the entire terminal just the plastic clip on cover part who ever has it. Z.
  6. Anyone has a good spare TPS sensor? And also a cover for the 5 sided red and green wire terminal located on the inner fender wall between the AFM and starter coil? Both for a 77 Z. Call me up at 530 701 1244 if you do, 4 can do paypal.
  7. Yes but I the guys coming by in a couple hours to pic her up but I did get the scan of the window sticker at Staples in a JPEG and PDF file format yesterday . Will post them both here and on the "moroney" thread and pics of the green book when I get to a PC that I can upload from, (I'm at the Public Library right now ) . It was actually the guys dade who looked at the car for his soon still in New Mexico. He was pretty straight forward though and thorough as he should be when looking at the car, the whole deal took like 20-25 minutes. Showed him Ruby '77 and what all I did to her and my plans I had for Brittny. And then looked at Brittny and gave him an over idea of what she was and capable of. Checked the entire under carriage, frame, hatch area panals, storage area and engine bay, and as I said she proved structurally rust free. A true fellow car guy who's into deisel so I was dealing with a man who knows what a classic car is and not a "Craigs List Flake" trying to knock down the price to "FREE" because it needs this or that :pirate:. Honestly a good deal and experince for both ends of the sale. Next time I'll sale it on Ebay, if their fees went down (unlikely ). ~Z~
  8. Sold her for $900 To a local Cat from New Mexico ~~Z~
  9. Drained the tank and like I suspected old GASoline. Needs to cleaned as it was a little gooey in there. She stills cranks so she will run thats for sure IMO. ~Z~
  10. Just put my last personal twin stack in the classifieds, have a looksy. 2 inch inlet slant chrome stlye. ~Z~
  11. No doubt, thats the same I've been getting. I lowered the price to $1,000 one last time so I can get her sold ASAP. Hope it pans out as the car is way worth more than that being rust and all structurally. If it were'nt for me trying to help on some medical bills I would wait and get what it's worth. ~Z~
  12. This is my frist time selling a classic car but is it normal for people to say there coming by to see a car, give a time for that day (like 3pm), and then not show up? Not that I mind but I sat aside a nice chunk of my days for at least 4 guys that were no shows and never bothered to call back to say they weren't coming. Worse part of all I even lowered the price to $1500 for solid car and she's still here Am I missing something? ~Z~
  13. Missed that one , Brittny's is HLS30-437459, 11/77, Polar White 216.
  14. For sho, I'll have to use a diffent computer though. Whats your vin number BTW? ~Z~
  15. She's still around so I lowered the price a good bit. My Z only came with the white book and not the green and no service records at all. Will get those book pics posted soon. ~Z~
  16. I found a litttle skinny Green book that came with it also in the sevice manual bag from the dealership, seems to by part of another sevicing manual schedual or such. My 77 didn't come with one of these books and never heard of them disscused before. Was it a 1978 only book? In it is written the date of sale and other info on the inside front cover, will post pics of this book soon as I can. Got some details mixed up on the ownership though. Turns out according the mantinence records the original owner owned it for at lest 21 years to 1997 and lived in Chico, CA. Somewhere between that time and 2001 it was sold to the 2nd owner who gave to the last guy in Feb '01. Pretty amazed at all the history reading Got some guys coming to look at it this weekend, hopelfully she'll find a new home ~Z~
  17. Listed another one in the classifieds today ~Z~
  18. OK all, I got pics of my new Brittny 280Z ! More pics, LINK-> http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee59/partnateam/Brittny/ 2 Seat 4 speed with the original window sticker, all maninence records and sold here in Racerville,CA of all places! (FYI Racerville is 45 miles North of Sacramento) Didn't even know there was a Datsun dealership here untill I saw this in the windw sticker. Came through the Port of San Francisco and even has factory installed A/C ! The PO parked her in 05 when the tags expired cause he had 2 other daily drivers and a mortgage at the time so she's been sitting since then till a month ago. Sadly though I have to sale her now here listed in the classifieds for family reasons . But Ruby came home yesterday :D ! I'm keeping her Well anyway I was going to turn this into a red interrior Z and give her new white paint and silver "Datsun" Cursev Bagdes inplace of the 280Z badges on the fenders but what can you do. Has both original California Blue Plates and all new brakes and other stuff from Les Schwab, just befor she was parked, which made her a deal when I bought her. With the new steering rack, rack and pinnion steering gear, tie rods and new Master Cylinder the total bill came to $1600 plus! All this done by the PO who kept the reciepts If anybody's looking to give her a new home or know of someone who can take care of a well documented Z please be sure to let me or them know. Hate to see her go so soon but other things prevail. ~Z~
  19. Thyanx Blake !
  20. Thaynx, that'll help alot. I haven't seen the books myself since they're at the shop but thats what the mech says he needs. ~Z~
  21. Need the layout or schematic to the vacum hoses on a 77 280Z 4 speed please. Got the engine running but the the factory manual and the haynes manual says 2 different things according to the mechanic. ~Z~
  22. Now thats a beauty
  23. So if a mechanic was to replace every last bushing, the complet bushing kit with trans and all, it'll take a whole day or two?
  24. If 280~Master's picture is the same as in a thread called "THE STATE OF THINGS" then he's correct. Had the same thong on my L28 / N42 head and found the pattern for all the bolts and posted some pretty good close up pics you may find helpful there. Ordered NOS studs from Redat on Ebay and it came with short studs, long studs, and bolts. Took us a minute but we all figured out what went where there too.
