It's my understanding you want to leave everything off including doors, hood and hatch when painting the car. Especially the engine if your painting the engine bay. Certainly leave off the weather stripping or else the paint will get sprayed on top of it and eventually start flaking off the car around the edges of the weather stripping. That is why it's best to always take all the windows out before painting a car, any auto glass installer will tell you the same . If you really must do something do a pre fit and make sure all your body panels line up correctly like the gaps and stuff. Easier to address those issues and tweak whats needed before the parts are painted.
  2. Thread Dredge here, I got customer asking for a replacement Tach for a 1/72 240Z. Says he installed a Transitor Ignition and now his tach don't work. Anyone know what this transistor ignition thing is or do he just need a new tach?
  3. Awesome , so good when ya unite wit your loved one ain't it! Glad you joined the show. Whats the serial number of your BG Edition Z? Didn't they make like 2500 of them?
  4. They're here ! The Big Red ANSA Stickers are done! Please visit my parts store link in my Signature to see the many many pics I took of them on my wonderful 280Z in the Decals Stickers section of the store. They're $20 bucks each and can be bought at the ebay link, again in the parts store Decals Stickers section, then clicking the other items for sale link to find them. Please tell me what you all think . ~Z~
  5. Yeah, gangloadoparts.com/z/ in my sig . Theres a few sites like BlackDragon for instance, ArizonaZcar.com for race and other stuff. Zparts.com, Courtesy Nissan.com and Z Barn I think is another. But mostly if you want a really specific part you have to search around for places like TomiePowerUSA.com and others to see what they offer.
  6. Yeah, down stroke, the new cool term for down shifting. I like
  7. Been through there, LOOOONG stretches of highways
  8. I have to agree with Johnny'O on this one. I used to live in Indianapolis, thats where my moms side is from, and just about every NEW car there is F'd up if not from the rust then from the wrecks over the winter. If a 70 is what your absolutely looking for AND your willing to spend to fix it then do it. If not then wait for a cleaner Z or ship one in from out of state. Pics would help us a long way in determining what your working with here. Oh yeah, and welcome aboard
  9. Awesome! Now when you get it home don't go overdosing yourself on Z car
  10. Hi Flauski, thanks for that info . Yeah, it's a genuin Datsun / Nissan part by Kanto Sekie. I bought from the UK or should I say England which explains why it reads in MPH. Reason I bought was I was planning to put it in a B210 at the time and from what I remember what I paid for it was a little ridiculous. It's my understanding this was made in anticipation for the 5 speed cars since it goes up to 150mph and is a very early part number. Just had it on ebay for the first time and it didn't sell at $99 with a Buy It Now of $300, so it may be rarer than I thought if no one else really knew about it existed. Oh well, I'll try again or maybe it just be smarter to hold out for more now we'll see. . . Thanks again ~Z~
  11. In my experience bro the "magic's" only temporary. Time for a new radiator. But if you must then use Bar Leaks SILVER SEAL , but be cautious.
  12. My bad, I assumed they were all at least made in a single batch or sequential order. You saying all Black Pearls could come either with or without the graphics then correct?
  13. They sort of turn up when they do bro. Just have to keep looking. IMO if you find one without the decals buy it, at least the vin will match to a ZZAP Z and the paint code and decals you can always replicate. Believe theres a thread some where discussing a person who did the Black Pearl decals, they might can do the ZAP also.
  14. I've only seen one other Z with those. The only othere similar, might be the same wheel, are on Kharman Ghias. If thats spelled right.
  15. Thats an interesting problem, any more symptoms you can mention for us? FYI theres another club member who live in your town too if you didn't know.
  16. Uh o, installed mine myself on the 77 and didn't use any grease. We are talking about the part the front wheels attach to that slides back and forth under by the oil pan right? Got the bushings from MSA and no issues so far at 1242 miles.
  17. Right On! Thats how smiles are made
  18. Here goes the pics of the two 1975 Toyota Celica GT ANSAs, to see all the rest of the pics please visit my photobucket page and go to the two Celica ANSA sub albums at the link below. CELICA ANSA pics Link ~Z~
  19. Ah geeze dude, you sure theres no way you can keep it? You'd get more money not selling it to pick apart for sure. If you must do it be patient till you find a buyer. As a side bit of inspiration the better it runs (the more you fix on it) the more you might get.
  20. Yeah, camera in front, microphone by the tailpipe . You get those triple carbs on yet, I know how you are about putting stickers on your paint so watch out for other cars if your sharing the track. We have no doubt you'll do fine, have FUN
  21. Awesome excellent use of time management . Glad it's that easy, and I don't have to shell out for a paint and powder coat oven; or the use of one
  22. My bad, said he wanted "wires swaped", I read wires as wipers :stupid:
  23. This is the 2nd and last mock up I did. Notice how I set the angle of the pipes to come straight out and not at an up angle. Would of took a pic of just the mufflers by themselves but the camera battery died. Will try and take those pics tomorrow for the ebay ad I'll need for these . ~Z~
  24. Heres what they look like on the first angle I mocked it up at Notice how I curved it more upwards and how it fits pretty snug up against the big 280Z bumbers
