My car has the blue interior, and I like it quite a bit. That white interior is sweet, though.

Apparently. I'm trying not to look.

How about 'Thunder Road'? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052293/ Trivia: All of the "moonrunner" cars in the film had actually been used by moonshiners in the Asheville, North Carolina, area, where the film was shot. The moonshiners sold the cars to the film company in order to buy newer and faster cars.

    This is probably easier, anyway.....

I was cruising around the net looking for some 'period' photos of 240Z's, just to see what I can find, and I ran across some nice shots of the interior and exterior of a 240Z from 1972. They're on this page... http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/Retrospective3.html Uh. The 'woman' in the front seat is actually a man, but if you can get past that it's interesting to see what a 'white interior' car looked like when new.

I was going to say 'Le Mans' also.

  8. I was teasing my brother this morning about just this very car. He's been looking for a Z for some time (he lives in Savannah) and I told him that I'd found just the car for him.....ha. The cloth dash and center console covering appears to be some kind of black burlap. Weird!

All Z car clocks stop working eventually, don't they....?

I believe this to be accurate. My 5/71 car has the early boot.
  11. The left side of the car is in the shade.
  12. Gah! What the......?
  13. My favorite part is how people have complimented him on the car's 'reconstruction' but then he says that he can't afford new shocks. Uh.....slipping on some seat covers that you got at K-Mart does not equal a restoration of the car....

    I'm interested, too. Thanks.
  15. I'm running 225's with Konigs on my car, too. No problems.

The listed mileage on the car is different in the two ads, too.

  18. I sold a 2.2-powered, fuel injected 510 a couple of years ago, and the same thing happened...a couple of months after my auction ran, the car appeared again, this time supposedly in Hawaii! Using my photos and the same description, zero-feedback seller, etc.... eBay did the same thing that they did here. They pulled the ad, but never did anything (to my knowledge) about the scammer or his phony id. It pays to be cautious on eBay these days. If something seems 'funny', that's because it probably is.
  19. So....has Austin (member twistedsixx) moved to Rhode Island and decided to sell his car, or is this an eBay scam? I'm guessing the latter... 1971 Datsun 240Z - eBay The description of the car is pulled verbatim from the TunerZine article that appeared a while back on his car. TunerZine 240Z

Taco Bell? Seriously, though....there are plenty of vehicles that you can sleep in, and you're right that it would eliminate the need for a tent. I just don't really think that a first-gen Z is one of those vehicles that a grown man could comfortably sleep in.

Why would you want to sleep in your car? I've been car camping many times, but a sleeping bag and a tent, properly folded, don't take up much room. They could easily be carried in the back of a Z. Add a foam pad to put under your sleeping bag (they also fold up), and a tarp for beneath the tent. If it's dry you could cut or buy firewood close to your camp site....small cooler with some food and you're all set. Many of the camping areas off the Blue Ridge Parkway in this area are specially set up for car camping. A parking spot, a pad for your tent, a picnic table and barbecue grill...some of the nicer Park Service campgrounds even have bathrooms with showers. And don't tell me 'well, if it rains...'. Only idiots or people who don't know what they're doing get wet in a tent, no matter how hard it rains.

Montezuma, do you have photos of your installation?

I spoke to a Z owner named Jim Morrison about his retracting belts. He was using aftermarket belts from a company called Seat Belt Pros. http://www.gotbelts.com/re12pubuendl.html He used their item WSCH324P in 100" overall length (without shoulder mount) and with 12" sleeve. Cost $140 for both belts.
  24. Is it better to remove the valve before removing the hoses, or to try to do it with the valve still in place?
