TERRIBLE NEWS! ... Nis-san Dream Car Ga-rage Crushed?
I am neither in shock nor a doubting thomas. I simply challenged you to prove your contention, and your response is that your friend 'told you' that it was true. As far as I'm concerned, that tells me all that I need to know. Hey, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum just crushed the Wright Flyer and the Apollo moon capsules. They didn't have room for them. Huh? No, it's true....my friend told me.

TERRIBLE NEWS! ... Nis-san Dream Car Ga-rage Crushed?
Me, too, and it wasn't for a lack of trying.... I'd give my right leg for one of the restored or low-mileage 240Z's that were in the collection. No, wait....I need my right leg for the throttle! Maybe my left leg? No....need that one for the clutch. Left pinky finger, then!

TERRIBLE NEWS! ... Nis-san Dream Car Ga-rage Crushed?
Stickerman, I was referring to the original poster in the thread. Rumors most often do not translate into facts....if he 'heard' this, that's much different than having 'read' it or 'learned' it. And saying that it's true does not make it true, unless of course he can cite a source. Most of us have seen the information that Nissan put out indicating that some of their collection cars were for sale, and others of us know people who have purchased these special cars from Nissan. That's why I wanted to know where he came across this information (and since he did not cite a source, that pretty much tells us everything that we need to know about how valid his information is).

I would appreciate your opinions please
It's a matter of personal taste, I guess, but personally I think those body side bumpers completely interfere with the 'lines' of a Z. The first thing I did after I bought my '71 was to carefully remove them. Yes, I know that they serve a purpose. They are just ugly as sin, in my opinion.

I HATE people on Ebay...
I've had many good experiences on eBay, and a couple of bad ones. Anywhere you go in this world, you will eventually run into someone that either can't be satisfied or is out to pick your pocket, so I guess eBay is no different. One thing you might do is either 1) offer, or 2) require, shipping insurance. If you offer and they don't pay for it, then it's not your problem. If you offer and they do pay for it, then there is a lot more recourse in terms of filing a claim. Good luck.

Cherry 240
I registered, just so I could see what the story was. Apparently it's being 'restored' by one of the guys on the forum, and he's just sharing photos. The car is not for sale, or if it is, it's not being offered in this thread. The car is in the SF Bay area, if the location on the poster's sig is correct.

Question on replacing shocks
You're right. If your springs are at all questionable, NOW is the time to replace them.... I went with the Tokicos that are available on eBay, and they are supposed to lower the car 1.5". However, my original springs were sagging pretty badly -- I didn't realize how much until after the new springs were installed on the car -- and as a result I more or less kept the same ride height. Last I checked, Courtesy Nissan still had the Euro springs....

?? White Interior
The white/black comment indicates that the interior was available in that paint code with either a white or a black interior. In light of the white headliner in your car, I would imagine that your car was probably white inside, originally. Somewhere along the line, the original interior panels became damaged or were removed for some other reason, and replaced with the much-easier-to-find black panels. Of course, it is entirely possible that someone would swap out the headliner in your car with one that was the wrong color, in this case white, but it's a lot of effort to engage in for not much apparent gain.

What is your original paint code? This chart at zhome would tell you what color the original interior was when the car shipped from the factory.... http://zhome.com/History/colors.html

Question on replacing shocks
You'll have to disconnect the brake lines, but otherwise you are correct. I've done it this way on my car and it worked out just fine. Compressing and decompressing the springs is the most time-consuming part of the process, particularly if you don't have access to air tools. I installed lowering springs on my car, and one nice thing about this is that you don't have to compress them in order to install or remove them.

What color SEM did you use on that door panel, Marty? Wedgewood is too light....I was thinking that Pacific Blue might be closer to the right color.

Guese What Showed Up On Ebay!?!
Me too...I did it earlier this morning. Hopefully that will be enough to get it pulled.

Yeah, well. I hope you're the type of guy who likes surprises, because something tells me that 'she' has got a really big one for you....

Period Z Photos
Well, I do have photos....but they're old, from when I first bought the car. The interior is currently pretty much disassembled so that I can install floor pans (looking for a shop that can do this now). The door panels need some minor repair, and I have purchased OEM blue seat covers to replace the ugly black ones. To this point, I've been doing mechanical stuff (engine, brakes, suspension) but I'm going to start looking inside the passenger compartment now. New black 'Z logo' carpet, Cusco strut bars for the front and rear strut towers, blue dye for the plastic panels, etc....it's going to be a blue nightmare inside, but I like it.
