JDM headers for LHD
Here are a few trial fit pics that show the steering shaft clearance on some that I have. As well, here is a link to a thread on HybridZ which has pics in post #18 showing Sylv1's trial fitment of some he has, in his LHD S30. We can visually compare these headers, which differ but are both confirmed to fit, with others. There are many that are similar yet different. I have compared the pics of various versions I have found on the internet or other sources until I got dizzy. There are many. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/79827-stainless-nismo-race-header-lhd/ I don't know of anyone who has actually confirmed fitment of the Fujitsubo SUPER-EX header on a LHD S30 yet.

Clock repair for Z's
We have deviated from Zedyones's original intent of showing us his beautifully restored clock and I feel guilty putting this info here. Maybe the rally clock content should have been redirected? I just thought I could add to the rally clock info base somewhat. I have had several of these but did not notice the differences in harnesses from the early and later versions until MikeB posted the pics of his later version. The early version does not have the short jumper harness coming from the oscillator with the individual connectors. As well, I have included a pic of the backside of my early humming type oscillator. It has an identification number that may help to distinguish it from the later quartz crystal oscillator, when shopping for one. I would be interested in seeing the backside of others in order to compare numbers. The clock in my pic is the early 27385-E4100 and the oscillator is the early 27395-E4100.

Z club ideas
$10. per member might finance a professionally done group photo made into a poster, calender pic, etc. if you can gather everyone or cars or both for the pic. Would make a great keepsake.

Weber expert needed
Patcon, if you are not comfortable drilling the shaft yourself and your local machinest is not equipt or overpriced, try contacting a model railroader. These guys can drill holes through a pin and they are hobbiests, like us but different. Couldn't hurt and may get you over this hurdle.

Good question Bryan. That would depend on what model you are assembling. In my case, building a 240Z, the hardware in the below pic is not needed, although what is left over is mostly commonly used pieces and good to have as spares or to have on hand for other modifications, etc. Anyone building a 260Z or 280Z would only have to look at the labels in my pics to determine what packets are not relevant to their build.

Be sure to coat the threads with Antiseize to prevent seizing, galling and pitting when using these fasteners. If you don't have any Antiseize on hand you can use Maalox antacid instead. You may know it as Magaldrate. It is a mixture of aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide that will also hold up to extreme heat cycles.

Sebastian, I think you will be more than pleased with the whole car stainless kit from MMS & Accessories. There are quite a few fasteners that are included in the kit that you will not use though, just because they have attempted to put together a kit that will cover the 240Z, 260Z and 280Z. Also, note that there are no suspension/underbody fasteners included in the kit. You will have to get these from other sources. Trailer hitch
I know its been done and in many instances, no problems were experienced but I don't think I would risk it. Its just an accident waiting to happen. These cars were not designed to be tow vehicles. They barely have the capacity to carry two adults and their luggage. Sure, lots of guys will jump in and tell you how they did it, cross country in fact, but I think they can just consider themselves lucky. Am I too cautious? Maybe, but I bet the designers, as well as my insurance provider would agree with me. These cars in stock form don't have the pulling power, stopping ability or weight requirement to qualify as tow vehicles. Do I want a combined Z & trailer sharing the road with me? Nope.

Rear Hatch Henges
In this photo (from 26thZ's collection, I think), the bodies are shown in the metal finishing stage of the metal shop before going to paint. So that would agree with what has been said.

Help on putting choke throttle back together
Thought a pre dis-assembly pic might help. I put whiteout on the "tombstone " shaped washer/retainer so you can see it better in this pic. Like Dave says, without it you can't lock down the cables. Dan's pics show it well if you know what your looking for.

Shifter boot alternatives? Anyone?
It would be remiss of me if I did not put in a recommendation for the reproduction set made for us by Bryan (LBO730). I would not hesitate to buy another. He went the extra mile for me. The quality workmanship is top notch. I also bought the emergency brake boot. I didn't need the matching wire harness wrap but he had those available as well. I see that the early shift boots are available from other sources as well now but at the time Bryan was the one who stepped up and got it done for us and at the right price.

I forgot more than I know about this subject but I believe 5thhorsemann has hit the nail on the head. It depends on how your particular model is outfitted. Without a stator or battery, spark is provided by a magneto, same as a lawnmower that doesn't require a battery to provide spark to start. The 125 Hondas that I had, originally had batteries and were stator equipt and at one time had lights, turn signals, horn, etc., everything needed to be road legal. They were basket cases that I built for use 2 weeks out of the year on hunting trips. Using a 9 volt battery was just a means of providing spark, starting a stator equipt engine with no magneto or onboard battery. The old style bridge rectifiers were very durable and powered the lights as long as the engine was running. The extreme cold of the north and limited use was the reason for using 9 volt batteries. I dug up an old pic of one of these frankenstein bikes. The headlight bucket is made out of a Maxwell House coffee can.

motorcycle headlight installation
Its been awhile but I had a pair of Honda 125 trail bikes that I had adapted lights to and only used a rectifier on the alternator. All I used was a 9 volt battery that I kept in my pocket to provide the spark for kick starting. There has to be a ton of info on the net explaining how to do this. It was easy to do, the rectifiers were cheap.

ZX Distributor question and part search
I looked up the part number for the sleeve. The proper name is "collar set", comes with the roll pin. Try getting it from Nissan Parts. I would bring the measurements for it to ensure getting the correct one. The part number is shown as 22119-W0400 but is only illustrated as a seperate part early on and then is just part of the entire distributor assembly. You cannot swap one out from a points distributor. I took a pic showing the difference in size, although it is held on the same way. I also found 22153-96701 GROMMET If available get a few. Old rubber doesn't seal out moisture as good as new.

ZX Distributor question and part search
I just checked the spare E1280 module I have. It has a grommet attached to it. Problem solved. I think I should mention in this thread also that the sleeve on my ZX distributor is made of steel, not aluminum. I just sold another ZX distributor with a plastic sleeve on it. It was of unknown origin and had a module ending in 92 I believe.

I can see that the sleeve you are missing on the shaft, if not available cheap at the dealer, is not too difficult to make. It is held on with a single roll pin. Funny you haven't got them yet, I did email some pics to you but I'll measure up the sleeve as well in case you need to make one. Even the grommet can be made if you can't find one. Wouldn't be pretty but all you need is to keep the water out. Have you tested out the advance yet?
