Do you like the latest gallery images on the main page?
I agree with bambikiller, we have tabs at the top of the page to go to the gallery or forums, and my 56k only connects at 28k anyway . I think the front page is a nicely organised page, it shouldn't be packed with to much content just links. Just my thought Steven

1971 240Z I
Hi Nigel, your wheels are from a 260Z, sold in Australia between 74 to 77. I see you have covers on your guards for side mirrors, is yours an import? Steven

do you really need anything else?

Rear Brakes
New holes need to be drilled inboard of the original ones in the strut. The hub needs a touch machined off the outer edge to fit the disc over the hub and a spigot ring needs to be machined to centralize the disc. That's about it. Steven

Introduce yourself to the class?
Hi, glad to be able to introduce myself. Im Steven, Live on the south coast of NSW Australia. I first saw a 240Z in about 72, it was the first prize in a shopping centre contest, i must have been 12 or so, and that was it. That was the car i had to have. So in 78 while i was a apprentice motor mechanic i sold my sole to the bank and got a 77 260z 2+2, not what i wanted but my family would help me pay for it if they could sit in it too. In 85 i bought my current 240 and drove it for 3 years until my daughter was borne, then sold it for a station wagon ( why do we do that ? ). Then in 98 i bought it back from the guy i sold it to. Five years ago i started on rebuilding the car, first i fitted a L28, then supercharged it . Three years later i striped the body back to bare metal, had it painted and repaired, this took 6 months in the shop. Once i got the car home again the suspension, brakes, transmission, RB 30 Engine, wiring, glass, rubber seals, badges, dash board and chrome was replaced or rebuilt. Other cars ive owned are two Datsun 1600's ( P510) a Nissan stanza, 78 skyline, old Volvo wagon, 850 Volvo sedan, Lexus SC400 and im thinking of a Nissan GTi-R Pulsar to replace the Lexus. For the last 5 years ive been teaching Motor mechanics, car and truck at TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Happy to meet you all. Steven

Panasport
No Damian, they are 16x7 Panasport, I think the Performance wheels have 10 spokes not 8, and only come in 15 inch.

RB30DE
The RB30 engine is Australia only, but you should be able to get hold of a RB20 , 25 or 26 through importers

The colour is Diablo Red, its used on the VS HSV Holden commodore, but I think Mazda use it too. The wheels are 16x7 panasports with 11mm offset. As for stopping it fading, mine lives in a garage all the time Steven

Front brakes
Close Ben, the rear callipers are R31, but the disc's are Ford falcon XR8 EL model from memory. The same thickness but 300mm not 261mm of the skyline. Steven

Rear Brakes
The front Brakes are twin piston ( on the one side) sliding alloy callipers on 296mm vented disc's (Holden GM). The rear are 300mm solid disc's (Ford) with R31 skyline callipers. I have removed the booster and fitted twin master cylinders of different sizes and a Tilton balance bar. Ive found that with the booster gone that you have very good feel of what the wheels are doing and it stops very hard. Steven

RB30DE
Thanks for the comments guys, not sure of the weight, the block would be about the same and the twin cam head is heavier, but I got the engine to sit about 50mm (2 inches) further back and lower than the old L-series.

RB30 in a 240Z
Hi Ivan, you say your manifold is 15mm to tall for your bonnet ? if you rework your engine mountsyou wil get it to fit fine. Ive used the RB30 block with the RB25 head and manifold, which is 40mm taller than the RB25 block and i have 10mm clearance over the throttle body. Steven
