240Z for USD$18,000 ?????
nice, though a bit out of my price range...

Dodge Viper engine
wow, that's a huge engine to squeeze into a little z! how could that possibly be worth the cash you drop to get a viper engine that probably gets 10 m.p.g.!?! don't ask me!

My Ride !
that's quite a nice ride you've got there. i don't know how such an old car can look so good!
-
Urgent advice please!
i have also noticed cracks in my paint. i don't think it's a big deal. the paint jobs seem to be quite thick at some parts though!

found a 71 240Z
well, to tell the year of a z, you open the driver-side door, and there's a metal plate with a manufacture date (i.e. 12/72 for my 1973). if you have a 1972 it can range from ?september? of 1971 until ?august? of 1972. i don't know if that makes sense, or if i got the proper months, but it's a general idea.

Ignition interlock
that stupid seatbelt buzzer was disconnected within 5 minutes of buying my '73! it was broken, so it would go off all the time. sheesh!
-
new ignition switch?
i've been working on my car for the last while, and i finally got it to a point where it is startable. my problem is that my stinkin' car won't stay running for more than a second! the starter is working for sure, but i have to hold the key -beyond- the 'on' position to keep it going! i imagine that the ignition switch has something to do with it, but i'm not sure !!! i wouldn't want to spend money if i don't need to! thanks

Im new so im sorry if this has been answered...
well, aside from the L28 being able to withstand the turbocharge better, it is also a more powerful enging (not quite sure how much more) not to mention that it's fuel injected!

240z 89 ford 302
for a few hundred, you could probably get a decent 5.0 mustang engine, which IS running. it also seems silly to put a dinky v8 like that in when you could fit probably ANY small block in there! i've also heard of people selling a running 350 for $50. there are many options, and most of them cheaper if you're looking for a project car.

Couldn't resist this one...
i wager that someone will put that car out of it's misery soon. something like that is target material. it's a shame too, because it's a fine automobile... i *almost* feel bad for the owner when it happens, though they *did* ruin the looks of the car.

Datsun nubie here...
i agree that it should be running for 4-5 thousand. it may be restored, but a car that's been sitting for a few years WILL need work, and probably more than you plan on. for me to buy a z for that much, it'd have to be running tip-top!

new member - probably old questions!
congrats on finding this place, buddy. i just got my 240 about 2 months ago, and i tell ya', i'd be lost without these guys! thanks to everybody for the help. i've learned a ton, and hopefully, i can be a help to others! WELCOME TO THE CLUB

No trip for me!!
hey, man. a small thing like no transportation is a silly reason to give up hope on acquiring a z! just remember "where there's a will, there's a way!"
-
woo hoo ive found my new ZZZZZZZZ!!
man, that's a tough decision! i certainly wish i had a problem with too many z's to choose from!!! mine's the original orange (with heavy paint oxidation... not to mention the rear wheel wells!) not quite as pretty as yours

I'm new to Z cars...a few questions
i bought a z only 2 months ago, and from the second i saw it, i was in love. and when i drove it home... well, that just blew me away! i even have infamous 'flat top' carburetors, which are a drag (they never work like you want them to). i'm in the process of converting to a holley 4-barrel carb, rather than pay $400 for a modification, or or $900 for some good rebuilds (carburetors ARE expensive in these cars). you shouldn't drive one unless you're looking for an obsession with a beautiful car!

What's your Driving Music?
mmm... stock radio, friends. it stays on for about 2 seconds, then it goes dead!

wipers dont work
if the wipers won't work, your motor may have gone bad. hopefully this is not the case, as these are becoming hard to find, i hear. check the linkage, which should be located under the hood toward the windshield, and the motor is somewhere in the center, i believe.

Introduce yourself to the class?
heya! i'm steve, i'm 19 years old. i live in utah (though may be moving to texas in a few months) and i own a '73 240z, which i bought only 2 months ago. i found out about them from my friend, because he knew somebody who was selling one. it runs fine, but needs some work (she's 29 years old!) and has a little rust. i went from a stranger to a major fan. this website has helped me out a ton, and i've learned a ton about the cars since i joined the z club a little over a month ago! thanks everybody!!!

carburetor linkage...
how would i get hold of an msa catalog? what's their url?
-
Car starts at full throttle
well, under the hood of my '73, there's a spring in the center of the engine compartment toward the rear after the first section of the throttle linkage. this is what makes the gas pedal go back on mine (i think). the carb does have light springs, but nothing that would return enough pressure to raise the pedal. hope this helps some!
-
carburetor linkage...
i've decided i'm going to use a holley carb in my 240, and i had a question about the throttle linkage. i need to know if there's all ready something i could use in my '73, or if not, where can i get it. i've got everything to mount the carb, but i don't want to rig the throttle. thanks!

Nice 240z black... with a LT1
*sniff* makes me proud to say that i own a z... TGIF!!! I CAN WORK ON MY CAR TODAY!!!!!!
-
Spark Plugs....?
well, the fancy schmancy plugs will work in your old z, but i don't really recommend spending extra money to get the expensive split fire, or platinum, or any of that crap. the old z wasn't really designed to take advantage of that, and it will not help any. i bought my z, which had platinum plugs/split fire, and it really doesn't do jack, though i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to put some in! i'd personally save myself a few bucks, and go with the classics.

Inside Door Handle
about the door locking... i noticed that mine wouldn't lock (seemingly) on my z. at first, i though it may be frozen, but i messed with it at a later time, and found that the door had to be shut to lock it! i just used the key from the outside to lock the door. i don't know if that's your prob, but it's worth a try!
