  1. Hello everyone, it's been awhile. Just thought I would update this thread with a couple small things I did to the Z today. First I bought some chrome door edging for my headlight covers. i think they turned out pretty good. Before: After: It makes these cheap headlight covers look....well...less cheap. Also found a set of real Watanabe center caps for my not so Watanabe wheels. They were silver so I painted them black. I will post installed pics tomorrow, must be patient to let paint dry.
  2. just one more update, I used some thick red paint to mark the oval metal of the striker rod, installed the shifter and tried 5th and rev again. 5th looked (and sounded ) good, but rev was still leaving good witness mark from the paint on the shifter. More grinding/check/grind more/etc... until looks good and it passes the strip of paper test now. I can see how some wear marks on the striker rod head, I suspect that each trans will require zero to some work for full engagement based on the amount of wear at this point and perhaps production variances in the trans and shift rod. Anyway best to deal with this issue with the trans on the bench, I am really glad about this thread, see as I was able to work on mine before the install.
  3. Check out this awesome video that IVY Films made. We had a huge turnout and it couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a successful event. We hope to see everyone who couldn't make it at the next show!
  4. I started an Album here:
  5. I drove my Orange 240Z 900km from my home to my mother's home. It has got a an automatic transmission, the trip was so easy and I loved it very much. Everyone may think the auto transmission is not desirable, less sportiness , less joy of driving . Yes I know what people are saying and I was the one who was thinking the same way without experience driving the auto transmission of S30. Unless you are at a circuit , you will be happy with the automatic transmission 240Z. I must say my 240Z is keeping preserved condition and mechanically maintained very well. Kats
  6. Detailed the car for a show tomorrow: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/general-announcements/52693-2014-vancouver-all-nissan-meet-august-9th-10th.html When I opened up the spare tire cover it was like opening a 44 year old time capsule.
  7. In case anyone is interested in the progress, this car is now roadworthy. In addition to changing out fuel lines and boiling out the tank I have replaced the clutch, patched some rust holes in the floor, and cleaned and rust proofed most of the interior. The car runs great, and it looks like I will be selling it to a friend of mine. I'm glad to get this car back into circulation. At the same time, another friend of mine recently told me, "I have come to realize that I was not put on this earth to resurrect old cars." I had some downtime on another project, so I did have the time to work on this car, but at the same time, I have an appreciation for his comments. I think we all do this because we love the cars so much. Pics below:
  8. As Promised: I did find a couple of cancer spots on the underside, but they seem to be pretty limited in area. Battery is dead, but with the charger on, all electrical seems to be functional. Once I change the fuel lines and the fluids I will try to get her running.
