Yeah... I checked Z-Home and didn't find a registry for this obviously very collectable edition. Perhaps this is a 'Works' car?

Well you know what P.T.Barnum said... (or is credited with saying.)

That is a pretty obvious phony slab sided body kit. I do hope that "lsrcap" is happy with it.

Or is the name of the winning bidder some sort of joke?

"I scrap"?

"Its cr*p"?

LOL

Not likely I know... but there is always hope.

Isn't that a 280ZX with a early z body kit!!!

That is not rare that is ....well never mind.

That thing has gone so fast that none of the body panels even line up anymore. The gas lid is missing....I could go on and on and on. Not sure if that car would even make a good parts car. Most of the parts on it are APC seconds.

I trully admire the overspray in the door jamb.

I apreciate the body kit because it is different, but it is a ZX not a Z isn't it. Plus how hard is it to pop the bonnet. A pic of the custom intake would have been a better selling point.

I'll give you that it has the scent of the used car dealer, but compaired to the price I PAID FOR MINE (which is in fair/good condition), it is a bargain. When was the last time YOU bought a turn-key sports-type car for $3000?

I assume that the car won't be needing any work to keep it running, oor need tires (soon), or whatever stuff that wears out.

I agree that the (seller) shouldn't call it a rac car if it isn't. Didn't even have a roll-bar.

Also, I wouldn't put a radio in a "race car." I might even take the radio (newer Audiovox with pull-out receiver) out of my 280Z "touring car," but that depends on how comfortable I feel taking it on longer drives. I need room for my TSD palm computer.

Maybe the body kit is the rare part? LOL

The final bid was .....$3,000.00! Jesus, that means the value of any decent Z car just went up like the overpriced real estate here in D.C.! Check this link out and see for yourself:

http://www.dat.state.md.us/

(just search under the link "Real Property Data Search" and then pick a county and enter in any street name in Maryland)

That rear quarter looked familiar and I checked an old Z catalog and wouldn't you know it; Jim Cook Racing had that piece for sale in the 1990 catalog (it was pictured on a black 280ZX) for about $200.00.

I see it another way...

If a one-of-a kind- race-ready Z is only $3,000, then our ordinary "production models" would be much less. So if you buy a stock Z for anything over $1500-$2000, you probably poaid too much. :(

The same reason the Enzo people don't want to see any Z-based GTOs in public. They think it'll bring the value of the real-thing down from $million to $15,000 or whatever.

The problem is that these laypeople see a GTO and think it's a Ferrari, not a Z.
