Tow bar

Featured Replies

what will you guys say if you see a 240z with a tow bar? i am looking at a tow bar at e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417823699

The old man has one on his 71....... it hasn't seen the light of day since the early 90's (I'm scared to go look at it). It was great for pulling a small trailer of trash to the dump, a tiny uhaul trailer with a piano in it and stuff like that.

I'd do it if I needed something to haul a few 2x4's from home depot or something like that but I don't think I'd be brave enough to hook up a boat to it.

I had a tow bar on my 71 Dodge Colt that used the same mounting method as the one on eBay. It uses the shear strength of the bottom of the tire well and the shear strength of the tail light panel. So if you have any major rust in these areas this hitch will not work for your car.

The one that I had worked very well and I towed a Sunfish Sail boat all over the southern San Joaquin Valley and to Denver Co and back one summe. Total tow weight was ~500lbs and tongue weight of ~50lbs

Back when I was driving my 240Z in college I built a way over-engineered waterbed out of 2x10's. I brought all of them (some 8 foot and some 10 foot) home sticking out the hatch. 2x4's are nothing.

On the other hand, here's how not to load building supplies ...
