I have removed my original windshield from my 1970 z so as to put in a less scratched and pitted one for an upcoming event. While I have my windshield out I wondered if there was any preventative maintenance I could do on the dash to prevent cracking, it is original and uncracked at this time.

Thanks

Chris

The best thing you can do is keep it out of the sun, even when driving I leave one of those dash toupees on it to keep the sun off and only take it off for shows.

I totally agree with grannyknot . In addition---

Opinions will differ, but I wipe my dashes down with Mothers Protectant often.

It keeps them clean, has a UV inhibitor and is not shiny or greasy and smells really good too!

Some guys swear by Vasoline,  I tried it once and the dash looked amazing, not shiny but a warm healthy glow.  You rub in the the thinnest layer that that you can then with a clean cotton cloth try and remove as much as possible.  Just not sure about the chemistry.
