Thanks Jim, I found a rubber thread protector (it came on a aircraft fuel line fitting) that also is the correct size.

I think Safety wire will work for the linkage question, I thought that the screws on the linkage were idle adjustments, are they both adjusted by the screw on the rear carb?

Could you tell me what you used to attach pictures to your post? I had no problem attaching pictures to the original post but can't find a button that links to my pictures.

I used one of those snap on rubber wine bottle cork (sealer). they come in all kinds of colors.   :rolleyes:

In the reply box, look for "More Reply Options" at the bottom right and click it.  You'll get an expanded reply function with "Attach Files" at the bottom left.

 

The screw on the linkage is used to balance the two carbs so they working in synch.  A tool set as in the pic is used.
