cheers tellie

you can make a torquie 3.1L out of several different model Z engine parts and a Toyota 4x4 crank shaft:

Hi Ivan,

Which Toyota 4x4 crank are you talking about?

I've never heard of a Toyota crank being used before

in this application.

Nick.

The Maxima diesel crankshaft is the one you want to build a stroker. Pick up the book written by Frank Honsowetz entitled "how to modify your Nissan & Datsun OHC engine." In chapter two, "crankshafts," on page twenty, he recommends the LD28 crankshaft for a stroker an L24, L26, or an L28.

If you need one, I have one for you. They usually run about $225 - $300 on zcar.com for sale forum. I'll sell mine for $175 cause your a Classic Z Car Club member.---Jerry

Hi Jerry,

How's the Z art going? I hope to see more illustrated Z's in your gallery. :D

I don't suppose you, or anyone else, can give me an estimate on how much this crank weighs? It's a possible future project and I'd have to ship one over from the US (Gulp!).

Thank you.

Sorry, no Toyota 4x4, was trying to remember the parts and this sprung up in mind for some reason, as go z racer, go said, Maxima Diesel

Toyota 4x4 has some R180 stuff, and of course the 4 pot calipers :)

Strokers get PRICEY, so for the 17 extra cubes, I wont be going that route.

are these 3.1's relaible for say a turbo/nitorus applicaiton of course taking into account forged pistons/rod etc....well i guess with enough $$ you can do just about anything eh

you would have to reduce the compression, from memory they run at about 10.3:1 or so. havn't read anywhere about anyone doing this so no idea how stable it would be

Grab an F54 block with an N42, or P90-shaved and have it bored 3mm. Find an LD28 crankshaft (or buy mine), a set of 73 240Z - 9mm rods, a set plus two (since they were 4 bangers)240SX pistons (to establish proper "deck & stroke height"). Use a 240Z flywheel and it's 2 row harmonic pulley (the single row from MSA if you can). Gather them all up and hand it over to a competent machinist to have balanced.

You know the rest

hi Ivan do you know what crank that LD28 is out of in australia... is it a patrol diesel or something like that?

'81 (R30) Skyline 2800GT

'81 810

'81 - '83 Maxima Diesel

Land Rover Discovery (I think, it might just be a common conversion instead)

failing that the part number is 12201-V0790

Do you have any old Nissan automotive dismantlers around you?
