Hey everyone, allow myself to introduce...myself. Yes, i am the proud owner of a 78 280z. it has a v8 swap already and all the usual issues IE:rust,wheel fitment,lack of lights.LOL looking forward to reading topics and learning.:)

You should find a ton of info on the Z here, and maybe you can be 'converted' and see the light to go back to the original L-series.

Hybridz.org will be more appreciative of the V8 swap. The people there (including me) are all about making the cars faster. I'm putting a 5.3L in my Series I, VIN 4396. I put a cage in it and it's getting huge flares and 15x14 wheels in the back. Makes some of the people here want to cry. It's going to be AWESOME!

What brand of V8 is a 5.3L? I don't recognize that particular engine size...

The problem is, you no longer have a Z. Once you swap-out the engine the expertise of the Z mechanic does little to help you.

Your best bet is to find someone that knows your conversion is over at hybridz.com
