SSR wheels? Rare?

Featured Replies

I found this car and the owner is stating these are "rare SSR wheels from Japan, perhaps the only set in America" Anyone recognize them or know anything about them?

Thanks,

Leonard

if they are original and say "japan" on back yes they are worth money and are rare. here is the problem they make repro SSR wheels so jus make sure they are original

Not common in the US, but certainly not the only set. I see them available here and there every few months.

Those are not SSR wheels. They are Works (or work knockoffs) and not all that rare, especially considering you can still buy that model wheel new.

I have never seen anything like them and quite honestly think they are just plain ugly. The guy is using them for the selling feature of the 73 Z in the pic (the front end has been hit HARD) and wants $1500 for it. It isn't a $100 car. Just wondering if he was blowing smoke or whether I should at least go make an offer. I think I'll pass......

Thanks for the info though. Sometimes you just never know what may turn up.

Isn't the SSR wheel a 6 spoke design? The ones I've seen, referred to sometimes as Longchamp SSR, XR4 (or something like that) were always 6 spoke.

Well, first of all. If these are SSRs, there is a "SSR" name on back pads.

To be quite honest, these wheels are not popular at all in Japan. Another words there are not worth $ at all.;)

Those actually look more like Work Equip 01's. Styling is subjective but they can look good on the right car. It really depends on the size if they are rare. Wide width and low/negative offset increases desirability

I personally feel like the SSR Mkii (mk2) is a much better looking 4 spoke wheel for our cars. They are 2 or 3 piece and have a step lip. They can be bought in 15x7, 15x8, 15x8.5, 15x9, low offset. SSR is short for Speed Star Racing

For those curious about old school and new cool JDM wheels and where Rota/Konig/Drag get ideas for most of their wheels:
