I have a 240z i had to take off the heads to have them machined and redone i have the E88 heads i noticed that that most of the pistons had dents in them as if the valves were hitting them..after getting the heads and putting them back in as u turn the crankshaft to turn the motor u can feel as if its hitting again has anyone had this problem

On the other hand, some L24s (depending on the year and whether the pistons have been replaced before) may have valve pockets in the pistons. So what you describe as "dents" may be normal.

But the resistance while turning the crank is not normal, and needs to be investigated.

Excellent point as well....another reason pictures would have been good.

That's exactly why I was curious about the "dents" and why I asked about milling the head. I was thinking the pistons could have been fine before, but a milled head could cause interference (and timing issues later on).
