^little plug wire coming off the alternator.. what for? not plugged into anything

The first one is a maintenance starter button. You can use it to start the engine from under the hood. My 260Z had this as well, but it never worked.

That button isn't related to the infamous "mandatory seat belt" system that was required in 74 is it?

(or at least PART of 74...)

Yup. That's the emergency bypass for the seat belt interlock system. If the seat sensors failed and you couldn't start the car, pressing that button would bypass the interlock for a short time - maybe only one crank, I can't recall for sure.

The third photo looks like the endcap from a condenser, and the rest of the condenser is missing ( it fell apart.)

That 3rd photo is what's left of the condenser, for sure. You need a new one. They're cheap and easy to find.

The second photo looks like some kind of aftermarket relay. It also looks like there are some loose wires above it. Does the car have (or had) fog lights? Driving lights? Air horns?

I thought the red button was to start the hidden rocket boosters. LOL

The relay might be for your AC. There is an AC relay in the FSM at Pg BE 54.

Ttiger, the relay isnt aftermarket unfortunately, the colored wires are actually what is attatched to the relay :(

I have a question about the condenser... Could it possibly be what is interfering with my tach? the tach jumps to 8k, then bounces around occaisionally. sometimes it does jump to the right rpm and works for a minute or two... then back to 8. >< it bounces with my signal lights, with my headlights, defrost and well pretty much all my electronics.

HELP ME OH GURU's

I cant seem to find the problem with it, and honestly i'd like to know what rpm i'm at :P

Kevin

They are usually to suppress RF interference so you don't get that annoying buzz through the radio. Not sure if that has anything to do with tach bouncing.
