240z Valve Cover

Featured Replies

Where can I find a new or close to new valve cover for a 240z? I've been looking all over for one and the only ones I can find are powder coated.

You won't be able to find a "new" one. These cars are between 30-40 years old and any cover you find will be off an old engine.

I've seen polished and painted ones available on eBay with some regularity. Otherwise, look for parts car listing in our classifieds, other forum classifieds, and craigslist. You live in CA, which is mecca when it comes to 240Z availability.

BTW, I believe the covers from 69-83 are interchangeable. A 260 or 280 cover will fit a 240.

They pop up from time to time. I got one off ebay several years ago new in the box. Nissan seems to have some in the system somewhere:

13264-P0100 Cover,valve List $239.93 Net $182.83

athttp://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=13264-p0100

Or, PM me.

When you run a number through the NissanParts.cc database and it comes up, that doesn't mean it's available. It just means that it's a good part number.

I've got several in good condition if you are really desperate.

I'm in Oz:ermm:

You just need a good used valve cover that hasn't been molested, previously primed/painted or badly stained. Shouldn't be that hard to find in California. Contact a few local Z Car Clubs and one should turn up. Used valve covers are $75.00 to $95.00 for the late 70/71 models ie. "NISSAN OHC". Expect to pay far more for the early 70's with the 2400 on them... around here they are now $150.00 and up..

Clean it up with a good detergent and then take it to be glass bead blasted. Check your local Yellow Pages for shops that do media blasting and call a few. It should come out looking pretty much like it did when originally cast.

FWIW,

With all the ZXs and 80-84 Maximas I see in the SoCal junkyards you should be able to find one for much less than that.

I am selling one (Nissan OHC) in the classifieds for $20, plus shipping.

Pick Your Part or Ecology 20 dollars with a 3 core charge. A valve cover is one of the easeist of all parts to find.

There is a guy up here in Portland ( John) that has them for sale all the time on CraigsList. They are "used" valve covers that have been polished. They are a nice product. $100.00 each and that is a fair price. Look in auto parts(Datsun) for Portland Oregon and you will be set. You will not be disapointed.:classic:
