'71 rear hatch strut

Featured Replies

You might be better off the change the entire hatch if the 280 hatch fits a 240. There are threaded holes in the hatch where the strut mounts and the lower brackets where the other end of the strut mounts are welded to the body.
The later hatches will fit the 240s, but don't have the rear vents that I Series 1 car came with. My car came with a 280 hatch on it when I bought it.

But it's not hard to add threaded holes, a couple of nut-serts would do it.

Anybody point me in the right direction?

Jeff

Jeff, sent you a PM.

You guys ROCK!

Thanks for all the help! I will write down all the part #'s you guys supplied and start my search at the local places as well as the e-bay store.

Thanks Again!

Jeff

I have another question regarding this strut. I have a 71 and the single strut tends to tweek the hatch such that it is gapped higher on the DS.

I put a rubber bumper on the passenger side of the rear deck so it levels out the hatch.
