So I tuned up my carbs. and something puzzled my brother and I. There was grayish smoke coming out of the breather valve on the valve cover. Is this supposed to happen because the car has not been run in 7 years. thx Ian:nervous:

I would say it is because your PCV valve is not working or is not hooked up, the breather on the valve cover is an air intake, the pipe coming out of the block below and in front of the carbs should have a hose going to the pcv valve and is the output.

Depending on the action of the engine , will effect what is going on with the breather from he valve cover . It is true the PCV at the end of the hose connecting to he bottom of the intake , draws fumes from the crankcase. However when the throttle is opened the vacuum drops and if there is blow by from the cylinders it will come out of the breather . the breather should be connected to the air cleaner box. This way any fumes will be burned by the engine and if any air is need , not likely , for the block it will be filtered air . It is normal to have some discharge form the breather . However when an engine becomes tired the emissions will increase . My 2 cts. Gary

Now if you're talking about really good hoses, check out the CV4 website. Very nice silicone hose and in different colors but, not cheap. Otherwise, if you are just looking to replace the stock hoses, contact Courtesy Nissan in Texas.
