Great idea! I would love to know if a sibling is closer than I think.

1971 240Z---build date 12/70---vin#HLS30(16831)

I have HLS30 16831 listed twice...Ron and Michael M. in Clearwater.

Did you buy the car from Mike?

What is the original engine number in your Z?

thanks,

Carl

I did indeed buy my car from Mike. I have had it almost a year now. :love:

Is he on this board I wonder?

The original engine was replaced with a L26.

Ben (v12horse), thank you for the thumbs up on my avatar. No, the picture is not my engine bay yet. It will look like that in about 2 months when my car is finally finished.

CDave, I see you live in Florida, was your car purchased in California? The reason I ask is because your vin number is so close to mine.

Talk to you all soon. Happy Fourth of July. Rick.

rick,

you are correct in your idea of my car originally allocated to california.

she lived there for 22 years before her second owner relocated to fort lauderdale. i bought her in feb of 2002 4 hours after she was first advertised and now live in tampa.

cheers, cd

There were several letters in there. According to the Haynes book AND THE FSM:

GHLS30 [1] [2] [3] [4] ######

[1]

F = 5-spd gearbox

A = auto trans

(blank = 4 spd

[2]

U = North American model (U.S.A and Canada)

[3]

N = Canada model

V = California emmissions/spec

(blank) = fed. spec

[4]

C = Air conditioning

So mine should have been HLS30AUC 434056

It must have been one of the last 280Zs made. :) I winder what the serial number of the LAST 280Z was?

thx

Well mine is 462153 made in 5/78. That's some 28000+ later than yours and I have seen later.
