Anyone like my newly painted and cleaned valve cover??

Featured Replies

I'm so proud of this valve cover... hehe

spent hours and hours on it..

I used aircraft stripper and a toothbrush on the inside of the valve cover.. and it looks spotless... just in case any flakes of hardened oil and varnish breaks off and damages my baby!!

Looks like mine. Textured paint, regular paint, & polished ribs and letters.

Next time I'm going to have mine Powder-Coated in the same style.

Looks nice! What kind of paint did you use?

I wonder how much it would cost to have a whole valve cover black anodized?

Andrew:

I don't know what he used, but I used but I used Textured Paint (sometimes labeled as Wrinkle Paint) available at all of the Kragen (CSK) stores arround here. The paint I used in between the ribs was regualr VHT Semi-Gloss Black paint. I polished the ribs and letters first, then masked them & painted the area between the ribs. Next, I masked the entire area between the ribs and applied the Textured paint to the rest of the V.C.

Lots of cleaning of the V.C. before any paint gets laid down.

I used Dupli-Color "Textured Metallic coating"

I got it at AutoZone.. but is available at Wal-Mart... Checker, Pep Boys, etc.

Charges for anodizing parts is usually based on a batch of parts. Basically, the anodizer guy has a limit on the amount of parts (batch) he can put in his vat. So, usually the cost is the same for one part as it is for a full batch. When I have had parts done it ran about $40.00 each time I went for anodizing. Hard anodizing (MIL SPEC) may be more. Geneally, anodizing is pretty inexpensive. Talk to your anodizer before you do the process as different colors and different clears are available.

Sweet. Someday when i get the $$ i plan on doing something like that. I got a lot more necessary work to do first though. :disappoin

Not only the valve cover, you've kept the entire engine compartment very nice and stock. I see lots of original clamps, ties and even the battery positive lead. Show ready.

Is the fuseable link cover cracked? The valve cover makes a world of difference. Well done!
